Valentine Poem for Emily and William

You grew inside me
For nine long months
We cried and laughed
Watching that little bump
It expanded and bloomed
Like some abstract view
This gift from God
The miracle of you

Blessed by love
Not once, but twice
Some puppy dog tails,
Lots of sugar and spice
Rich beyond dreams
With the sought after pair
Our family complete
No more room to spare

Each one of you posessing
The power to hold,
The capacity to sustain us
As we grow old
Forever engraved
Right from the start
Created through love
Upon our hearts

    • Aww thank you Kathryn, I appreciate that. I have been thinking a lot about other forms of writing, but poetry can be very personal ( and hard to write, depending on the subject), but it is also cathartic and freeing in some respects. This one felt right :-) Hope all is well in your world!

  1. Suzanne,

A beautiful, beautiful poem! Your heart is in every line, so lovely and loving.

A gift to Emily and William.

    • Thank you so much Brenda, I appreciate it and that is exactly how I felt. It was hard to put into the right words and I still feel it is inadequate, but I am new to poetry, LOL. Hopefully there will be more for me to share down the road :-)

    • Aww, thanks so much MaryBeth, I appreciate that :-) I have not dabbled in the poetry field that much and usually when I do I keep it private, but this one meant a lot to me so…

Hope all is well with you in the frozen North!

      Suz

Love to hear your thoughts.....
