Growing up we always had a cat. George was this beautiful creature with long, black fur and the sweetest temperament going. He was a part of our lives for my first 18 years on this planet and he will always be my first love. ♥ George was an outdoor cat, for the most part, but he spent his fair share of time in the house, especially in the winter. That meant we had a litter box for him, but fortunately it was in a basement room, far from where the smell could reach us. Back then, ahem, a few years ago (but not that long ago) the litter we used was not as advanced as litter is today, which meant it did very little to mask the odors.
Fast forward a few years to when my hubby and I first set up house. We adopted our handsome Tango, another black beauty, when he was just months old, but because of the set up of our home we had to put his litter-box in an upstairs bathroom. This was not ideal at all, but we had no choice. Tango also remained an indoor cat, so that meant his box filled up a lot faster than we liked. But, everyone has to go, right? 🙂 Even though it has been over seven years since Tango passed away, I recall that the litter we used for him was pretty good. It did it’s primary job, made it a little easier to clean the box and masked odors fairly well. But, it was not perfect. It left a dusty residue all over the place! It was kind of nasty actually.
Our home has been pet free for a while, primarily due to allergies that were being sorted out, but we are looking to change things down the road. If the right little feline can be found for our home and it’s special needs, we are ready for him or her. First, there is a lot of love to share, second, plenty of beds to keep a kitty cozy and third, I have found the best answer to any potential litter-box dilemmas: Arm & Hammer Clump & Seal LightWeight litter. First and foremost, it addresses the allergy needs we have because it is 100% dust free! No more of that irritating residue to deal with. Dust free means it is not being breathed into sensitive noses, like a cat’s or my kiddos.
And since any clean up will ultimately fall to the younger members of the household (got to earn that allowance somehow 😉 ) it is nice to know that the Arm & Hammer Clump & Seal LightWeight litter is 50% lighter now. Each box contains the same amount of uses as the regular litter, but at half the weight, thanks to lower-density micro-particles. Makes it perfect for the young’ins to help earn their keep. 😉 Now, this cat litter sounds amazing, but there is more. It has plant-derived particles in it as well that allow the clumps that form to be rock solid. That means the cat box is super easy to clean while being oh so light. That gets my “seal” of approval. 😉

Always been a cat lover, since a young child. I have rescued some in the past. And the two cats now I have I found as strays. I have tested many cat different cat litter over the years. My needs have changed and need a lightweight kitty litter because of my medical conditions; would also making the cleaning process easier. Many purrs from Deany and Patchy my two kitties.

I am most definitely a cat person by nature. I was born into a family of cat-lovers, and always had cats growing up. When I moved out of my family home, it was going to be the first time I had lived without a cat, but my boyfriend at the time (now my husband) got me a cat a couple of months later because I felt the house was so empty without a cat. Our beloved first kitty together passed away from cancer in December 2012, shortly after Christmas and only a couple of months after we had our second baby (human one!). I was so heartbroken, I did not have another cat for a few years, but this past spring my parents gave me a new kitty for my 40th birthday, and I am SO happy to have a cat back in the house. Desi is the perfect fit for our family, and I don’t think I will ever not have a cat again. I love my kids and my husband, but without a cat something just feels missing! I guess I am a crazy cat lady!! 😉
