I have never openly admitted this to anyone, but I have a secret love affair with rubber ducks. Now, before you go assuming the worst, it is not a kinky kind of love, more like how most people feel when they see a puppy or kitten. I just love how playful and sweet they look. I even used them to decorate my kiddo’s nursery and the still remain in my son’s room today. I love the modern twist that is happening with rubber ducks nowadays. You can find them in all sorts of outfits, in a variety of sizes and even colours. I know they are meant to go in the water, and trust me many did when my kids were little, but I love the idea of collecting them. That’s where Rubba Ducks comes in!
Introducing the most adorable yellow friends to hit the market since those minions came along: Rubba Ducks! These little guys are a staple in the toy world and there are a ton of them to choose from. What I love about Rubba Ducks is that “they’re a lot like U and a lot like me.” Each Rubba Duck has it’s own personality and character. They come with the cutest little tattoo on their tail feathers that reflect who they are and each one comes with a trading card complete with their bio and a hatch date! As a child growing up in the era of the Cabbage Patch Doll I totally love this idea ( and yes, I still have my CP doll).
Rubba Ducks are quite unique as far as water toys go. First and foremost they are a toy, but unlike the rubber duckies of old, these little guys have a weighted bottom so that they remain floating upright in the water. They also do not have that little hole you find in other ducks so that means no water will get inside them. For a parent that is a great feature because when water gets stuck inside a beloved toy it can turn moldy and then it’s bye-bye beloved toy. Not with Rubba Ducks. These happy, little feathered friends are fun to play with and pretty much worry free.
Now, you all know I love me some Disney and there is a really cool thing to note about Rubba Ducks. As the newly renovated Disney Springs is coming to life down in Florida, home of Walt Disney World, you will be able to find Rubba Ducks nesting (see what I did there ) at The Boathouse Restaurant, just waiting for you to take one home. Rubba Ducks have the distinction of being the only non-Disney toy being sold there.
Speaking of which I want to introduce you guys to some cute friends of mine. Meet my Rubba Ducks Mrs. Duckbells and her hubby Mr. Duckbells! They are currently honeymooning here in Canada, checking out the fall colours.
