If you are like me than you may have left the planning/making/purchasing of a gift for your child’s teacher this holiday to the last minute. I don’t like that it is last minute, but it just always seems to slip my mind. Sometime in October I say to the kids that we should make something really nice, from the heart and than I forget. Next thing you know it is December something, three days before the Christmas break begins and I have no gifts to bring, pa rum pum pum pum. So, to honour my fellow procrastinators/last minute decision makers I present some great gift ideas for those special people in your family’s life.
The following ideas range in price from ten to twenty dollars, but you could certainly go higher if you chose. I think these ideas work great for someone you want to show your appreciation to without breaking the bank. In our case we have seven teachers/assistants we would like to give a little something to, so a big bang for a little buck is necessary.
I better keep this post handy because the end of the school year will be upon us before you know it and the vicious cycle will repeat itself.
Do you buy gifts for teachers, bus drivers, the paper boy, etc?

Ohhh I would love any of these as a gift. Actually I got a cineplex card for my birthday, and we are heading to the movies this weekend!
These are great ideas! I have to say that gift cards are probably my favourite idea. As a teacher I so appreciate them. I love receiving them and always think of the student that gave it to me when using it.
Nice ideas! I had a teacher in Grade 5 who had the best chunky jewelry I always admired. For Christmas, my mom took me to the bead store where I designed a big bold necklace for her. Recently my mom ran into this teacher at the bank. 25ish years and hundreds of students later, she remembered my mom, remembered me and still had the necklace! That made me feel good, even so many years on.
I love receiving gift cards, so it’s usually my go-to gift. I have 3 teachers to buy for for my son’s pre-k so I think I’m going to just grab a bunch of chocolate tonight, wrap it up in a basket and say Merry Christmas
I do purchase for the crossing guard, who is an amazing individual. She keeps the kids (and adults) safe and has a very generous spirit.
I’m just as last minute as you are. I had great ideas but now, like you said, it’s a few days before the break and I’ve got nothing. I love the zodiac gifts, I’d love one of those personally.
Thanks for the ideas, running out to do last minute things…its going to be madness in the stores
Star Wars Flash Drive is a big hit this year !!
I always buy the teachers an LCBO gift card, I figure my kids might be a good reason to drink LOL just kidding they are good kids. Even if you are a non-drinker like me I could still use a gift card from LCBO, to bring the host a bottle of wine
I’ve given USB keys to a couple people and they were very happy with them, definitely useful!
We did a personalized ornament for my son’s teachers. They LOVED them!
When I went to school (England), no one ever bought gifts for the teachers, nor when my kids went to school (Germany). Now I hear occasionally from my son who’s a teacher in England that he gets the odd gift from pupils.
will have to pass this idea list to my daughter
