My family and I are very lucky to have access to the beautiful waters and shores of Wasaga Beach, in Ontario Canada. My folks live there so we try to visit as often as we can. Aside from getting away from the big city to relax in a sort of northern-country setting, visiting Wasaga also brings with it the charm of a small town. You know what I mean. It has cute little ice cream shops everywhere (but an abundance of Tim Horton’s ♥.) People walk or bike all over the place, but there are tons of cars on the long weekends. And of course, there is the Canadian kindness that is found everywhere in Canada.
But just this past week we stumbled upon something that sealed the deal on this small town charm, for me at least. Right near the Town Hall we found this:
I have heard of these Little Free Libraries in the other cities, but have never actually seen one before. I think they are just about the cutest thing and such a great idea! It allows everyone to benefit from a good book and share it with others. Just a simple act of kindness, but one that makes you feel pretty good at the same time. 🙂
What do you like about small towns?

I love visiting small towns and just seeing the local shops. They have some awesome things.
(as an aside there are several little free libraries in my neighbourhood in Toronto!)

I think that this is a marvellous idea. I read a lot so of course have a lot of books. Last year I donated a lot to my granddaughter’s school to sell at their book sale.

I have heard great things about Wasaga Beach but have never visited. I grew up in a small town and what I loved was that everyone seems to know one another. If you don’t know someone directly, they know your parents, brother, cousin or friend!

Small towns are amazing! The pace of life is slower, you don’t spend all day driving from one place to the other because nothing is more than 15 minutes away. It’s nice to actually get to know your neighbours too.

I am very lucky to live in a neighbourhood with over 6 little libraries and counting within walking distance.
Whenever I finish a book, I drop it in. and sometimes there is a book that interests me.
I love it.

I love that! I wish we had that here. I remember as a child we would have a yellow bus library coming in our street once a week and I was always excited to get new books!

I’m a resident of Wasaga Beach. Somehow I had no idea this even existed but it’s great. I’m almost 19 and I’ve lived here my whole life. I’m moving to Toronto soon for school. I’m excited but sad to leave my hometown.
MapleMouseMama says
It’s always great to find things that you never knew existed. Makes the normal exciting again! Good luck with your move Josh!
