What this past year (and the one ahead) need are games galore to help us pass the time in a fun, not-too-serious kind of way. Wouldn’t you agree? Whether you are planning for those cold and blustery snow days or beefing up a list of boredom busters used during this long year of remote learning, we have a game for you. Take a few minutes to check out the list below of games we have tried out and read about some we have shared with you before, here and here.
Games Galore For Under The Tree
Chromino
Discover Chromino, the refreshing variant of Dominoes. Use colours instead of numbers as a new way to keep your mind alert. At the beginning of the game a Chromino”cameleon” (with a special center,) is placed on the table. During each turn a player places one Chromino in contact with another one that is already on the table. But beware for at least two of its colours must touch and match at adjacent pieces. When a player can’t play a Chromino, respecting the two colour rule, they must draw another Chromino. To win, just be the first player to play all of your Chrominos! A great feature of this game is that it can be played solo or with up to eight players! The suggested player age is 6 and up.Â
Rubik’s Revolution
The international best selling game is back! Rubik’s Revolution offers six fast-paced, electronic games that require speed, agility and quick thinking. Some of the features include sounds, lights, voice prompts and various skill levels that will keep you playing for hours! Rubik’s Revolution is great for keeping your kiddos busy and happy, without having a screen in their face. This challenging game allows for single player action or multiple players and is perfect for ages 5 and up!
Not Parent Approved
Being inappropriate is the whole point of this game that kids love and parents secretly approve of. Play with your siblings, friends and parents and learn to love tabletop games more than your screens. Not Parent Approved is filled with age-appropriate toilet humour and funny innuendos for the adults – just watch the giggles and snorts ensue! A round or two of this word game will help improve literacy, reasoning and language skills and your kiddos won’t even notice. 🙂 Not Parent Approved also comes with smaller sized cards that are ideal for the youngest players, starting at age 8 and up.
Wordsearch
The race is on with this exciting version of the classic hidden word puzzle. Wordsearch turns a solitary activity into a fun group word game as players venture out on a word search. Using the specially designed circular board, players race to find hidden words and no one has to wait as every player plays on every turn! Wordsearch includes twists that allow players to remove tiles played by their competitors and you can even make new puzzles online. That is if the more than 460 words to search for aren’t enough. Play Wordsearch as a single player or turn it into a 2-4 player game for ages 7 and up!
Banana Blast
Swing into fun with Banana Blast! Roll the die to see how many bananas you get to pick from the treetop. One of those bananas will make Banana Joe jump! If he jumps, all the players must try to catch him before he hits the ground. This sweet preschool game is great for building excitement in your youngsters and helps with their reflexes and hand-to-eye coordination. Children will also learn about taking turns and quick reactions. Banana Blast makes it easy to keep a child’s attention because every player gets a chance to catch the monkey! Banana Blast can be played by 2-5 players and the suggested age to play is 4 and up.
Pensilly
Pensilly is the super silly drawing and guessing game that your whole family will love! Grab your friends, select your cards and sketch out the clues. Using creativity, teamwork and your imagination, the team that collects the most points, wins! But don’t think it is that easy, oh no. Pensilly makes drawing even a straight line a crazy endeavor. It shakes and moves as you sketch out the clues! With two levels of play, there are over 5,500 clue combinations to be drawn. Pensilly is perfect for ages 6 and up.
