Christmas is probably the time of year kids look forward to most. There are the lists to make, the trees to trim, the cookies to bake (and eat) and all that shopping. The next thing you know, it’s over. As a parent every year I find myself wishing there was a way I could slow the holidays down a little bit so I could savor every moment with my family. This year I have found the answer. MapleMouseMama was given the opportunity to check out the 25 Days of Christmas activity from Simply Fun Families, a lovely eStore founded by mompreneur Karen.
The 25 Days of Christmas kit comes packaged in this sweet tin that will last for the years to come. The idea behind 25 Days of Christmas is to select a different card each day for the month of December and complete that activity. It is kind of like an advent calendar on steroids. 🙂 When you first open up the kit you will see it comes with 35 inspiring activity cards, 5 blank activity cards for you to personalize and 25 dated envelopes for December 1st – 25th. Karen has also included some great tips to get organized and have fun with the activities.
As a family, or on your own, you can go through the cards and decide which ones you want to do on a particular day. For example if you plan to put up your tree on the weekend, you could put the “Let’s Listen to Christmas Carols While We Decorate Our Tree Today” card in the appropriately dated envelope (let’s say December 4th). Or perhaps put the “Let’s Take Some Time Today to Snuggle Up & Watch a Christmas Movie with Popcorn” card in an envelope for a lazy Wednesday afternoon. The options are endless. There are a couple of “Surprise” cards that let you come up with the activity, or maybe your kids can. Another favorite are the “Today’s Act of Kindness” cards that suggest things like donating a toy to a local toy drive. All of the activities are designed to bring you closer to your children, your family and to promote the true spirit of Christmas, however you view it.
Imagine your children’s faces (or your spouse if you have no kids or even your parents if you live at home) when they open up the 25 Days of Christmas envelope each day to reveal another great holiday activity. Sweeter then a little ole chocolate from the dollar store advent calendar, more satisfying then shoveling snow all afternoon and more heartwarming then watching “Miracle on 34th Street”, the 25 Days of Christmas countdown activity will help you make beautiful memories this Christmas and many more to come.

Do you have any special holiday traditions like 25 Days of Christmas?

In European countries there’s a lot of traditions for counting down the days until Christmas. In Denmark they used a candle with marks, every mark counting one day.
In Hungary they count instead the 4 Sundays before Christmas with 4 candles. They light them one by one until in the last Sunday all four are lighted.
In other countries they have a calendar with a chocolate or candy for each day.
Thank you for sharing these wonderful traditions with me! I really enjoy hearing about the different ways each culture celebrates, but it is cool to see a common thread running through them all. Thank you for sharing with me 🙂

Oh, I love this! I know a fellow blogger who does something like this with her family, but she comes up with new ideas and whatnot every year. For me, I’d like a nice little tin all ready to go! 🙂
LOL, I am with you Julie, the tin set us is perfect! But there is still room to customize for those who are a bit more, ah, adventurous!

This is a great idea! I think too often we get too busy during the holidays to remember that it is a time for family and togetherness! This is a great way to encourage it!
I totally agree Jennifer, it is a fantastic idea and all you need to do is add the family and enjoy!
Suz
I think this is a fabulous idea! I know someone who does this with her family … but she does the whole process from scratch and I would much rather have a tin with ideas all ready for me! 🙂
LOL, I am with you Julie 🙂 I like the ready to go aspect of it all 🙂
