Sharing Our DisneySide @Home Celebration

March 28, 2014 By: MapleMouseMama35 Comments

DisneySide @Home CelebrationOver the past couple of months I have been posting about showing my DisneySide via an @Home Celebration.ย  I have teased you with posts about making Chocolate Dipped Oreos and Marshmallow Olaf Floats, both of which were pretty yummy. ๐Ÿ™‚ย  I have showed you how I channeled my inner Martha Stewart with my creative Frozen Inspired Decorations, Part One and Part Two. ๐Ÿ™‚ย  Now the post you have all been waiting for (drum-roll please…..) the party wrap-up!

The opportunity to have a DisneySide @Home Celebration came along when I was planning the joint birthday party for my two kiddos.ย  Emily and William celebrate birthdays two days apart so the question was “how do I show both of their DisneySides with one party?”ย  Fortunately the movie Frozen has captured the hearts of this entire family so it was a no-brainer to have that as our theme. As popular as Frozen has become since it’s release in November 2013 it is impossible to find party decor themed to this movie.ย  It’s just too new.ย  My love of Disney came to the rescue and I think our Frozen themed party was a hit!

DisneySide @Home CelebrationDue to the number of family and friends we wanted to have we decided to hold this party at our local pool.ย  My children love to swim and the pool has a large hall where we hosted the party. I wanted to have a way to capture some of the memories being made that day so we set up a “Show Your DisneySide” photo booth!ย  I picked up this cool kit for the backdrop for $6.00 at Party City and it worked great!ย  We added in a suitcase full of props in the form of Mickey and Minnie ears, some pirate gear and princess finery as well.ย  Emily and I painted these wooden circles we picked up at the craft store to create a Hidden Mickey face frame as our special prop.ย  It was super easy to make and can be used over and over again.

As the hall is quite large we did not want to go crazy with streamers and such, but we did make a bunch of items to spread around.ย  Simple black circles transformed into more Hidden Mickeys for the walls and the addition of some pink polka dot ribbon gave us Miss Minnie! Mickey and Minnie graced one of our food service areas to remind everyone of the magic that day. ๐Ÿ™‚

To keep the Frozen theme prominent our table decor included these beautiful silver frames (from the dollar store) with quotes from Olaf and Elsa.ย  The extras were put up on the walls along with cut-outs of the sassy snowman himself.ย  I think I really nailed the theme between the wall art, the table decorations and our food table. Some blue paper bags, stickers and silver tissue paper combined with these Frozen labels and silver ribbon and the loot bags I created were a hit! Courtesy of Disney Parks, Mom Talk Radio and BSMMedia we were also able to give each family a beautiful poster of Mickey and Minnie, which I just loved. ๐Ÿ™‚

I had wanted to create food for the party that reflected my DisneySide, however, due to our location we had to be a bit more practical.ย  I left the themed food for the desserts, like our Marshmallow Olaf Floats, snowflake and Mickey shaped krispie treats and my personal favorite, our vegan and nut free cakepop “snowballs” from Rashmi’s Bakery.ย  With such a large family we always have birthdays overlapping so more cakes were needed. ๐Ÿ™‚ย  William celebrated turning five with this beautiful vegan and nut free Frozen cake ( also from Rashi’s) while the budding tween Emily had a One Direction cake.ย  My mother in law tried her hand at making Olaf’s hot tub friend to go along with her Olaf cake!ย  All in all we had some incredible desserts that everyone could enjoy!

Emily and William were very happy with their DisneySide birthday party and they loved surprising their friends with all the special touches.ย  Between swimming, dancing and singing to the Frozen soundtrack and playing with the photo booth props they were worn out by the end of the night. ๐Ÿ™‚ย  It was well worth the time I put into this party and I would like to thank our generous benefactors at DisneySide Celebrations for helping to bring this party to fruition.

***How do you show your DisneySide?

Suzanne you did a wonderful job of putting that birthday party together. I know that Emily was a great help to you and well appreciated by you. I thought that you did a great job on all the “Frozen” decorations, coming up with them on your own was wonderful.
