Back in November when I first bought our tickets to see One Direction play in Toronto I thought the time would drag. I thought if I was a ten or eleven year old who was just dying to see Niall, Liam, Harry, Louis and Zayn perform then it would seem like the date was a million miles away. Emily had her One Direction calendar to mark the days off in a big red X, but still, that just seemed to taunt us rather then make us feel like the concert was moving closer. But guess what? The time has come…
Later on today Emily and I will embark on an adventure. Along with friends we will be attending the second night of the Where We Are Tour in Toronto and I have to say, I am almost as excited as Emily is! This will be her first concert, but I have been to a few. Just not in a very long time. I feel almost like a teenager! Thank goodness I have my aching bones to remind me of my age. (Insert sarcasm here..) Alas, I am still pumped for this night. Or “buzzin” as Niall Horan would say. Yes, I found out that little tidbit from my close and personal friend Twitter. What would this generation do without Twitter? I love that you can plug in a few characters and see exactly what your favorite boy band is up to. A little “peeping Tom-ish” but hey, it’s all in good fun.
So in a few short hours we will don our red and white clothing items, perhaps put on some temporary tattoos, and pack up the posters. Then it is off to Rogers Centre to see what all the fuss is about. The whole ‘wear red and white’ thing is pretty cool actually. For the past few months a few creative fans of One Direction have been encouraging concert goers to wear as much red and white as they can to represent Canada. The hashtag on Twitter, should you want to check it out, is #TurnTorontoRedWhite. Isn’t that smart?! I have jumped on the bandwagon with a few red pieces ( I do not do white. Ever.) but Emily went one step further and made her own t-shirt. It is lovingly done up with white, glow in the dark paint and a heart to represent her adoration for these lads. I think she did a great job!
Stay tuned as this #DirectionersMama and my little #directioner take off on our special adventure. There will be pictures a plenty, tweets a twittering and lots of screaming, of that I am sure. Wish me luck as I step back into my youth and dance to the “Best Song Ever.”
What was the first concert you ever attended?
FT&PD
Suz
Wow you surely gonna enjoy their. Tattoos look great.
Thanks Hina, it was great!
I don’t remember my first concert. I wish I could say an Elvis one, but I can’t. Have a wonderful time tonight Emily and remember Suzanne your not a teenager. Love ya
LOL, yes dear Elvis. I know how much you would have loved to see him MOm!
What a great concert to be Emily’s first, I have a granddaughter named Emily as well and she would love to see them. We didn’t get tickets though
It was amazing Darlene, just wonderful!
Sounds like you are having so much getting ready for the concert! I think anticipation is a big part of something special. Without anticipation and that anxious feeling, there would not be all those emotions in the concert. Even though the wait can seem forever!
It is very true Joanna, I love the build up to these sorts of things!
uh…The Bay City Rollers…I am aging myself here…you may have to go to YouTube and take a listen. My two sisters and I pretty crazy over them.
LOL, oh I remeber the BCR. I think I still have my satin top some where, LOL..
Haha… I’m a small OneDirectioner too. Zayn’s my favourite!
You would love the concert Tiffany, it was great!
Awesome… good music can be enjoyed by everyone… have fun at the concert
Thank you, we had a blast!
My first was a Little River Band concert in Auckland ,New Zealand. Loved it
Awesome and to see them in NZ, wow!
My first was the Dave Clark 5 so long ago it hardly seems real
It is true! When I think of NKOTB now I feel so old!
I’ve watch on news that when releasing of tickets on One Direction concert, the girls is like crazy waiting for 2 days
Congrats on your ticket!
Thanks Eng, it was nuts!
Have fun ! =]
Thank you!
Oh man. This is going to date me – I think it was Glass Tiger or Platinum Blonde or something like that. I hope you had fun. We enjoyed seeing Katy Perry together. That was a lot of mother daughter fun! I bet your DD will remember this forever.
OMGee I loved Glass Tiger and Platinum Blonde, but never did see them in concert.
Katy Perry would have been amazing as well. But 1D was pretty great, I loved it and would go again. Emily and I had truly the best time together <3
Have fun! I can’t remember the first concert I attended… and I’ve never really heard of One Direction, but this does sound like a fun tour and your daughter’s shirt is very cute.
Oh, what fun! I know a few little 1D fans who would be so envious! The first concert I attended was…NKOTB! I was convinced Jordan Knight and I would end up getting married! lol
NKOTB was my boy bnad crush too!
Loved following your 1D adventures over the weekend! Brought back lots of memories of when I was a teen and seeing my fave rock stars in concert. Would have LOVED to have Twitter back then to keep tabs on them
Thanks Sandy
Yes, having Twitter would have been awesome…as long as they followed me, I mean you back
Alice Cooper without make up back in his tame days lol I was 14, went with my dad and his friends. It was a lot of fun
Now that would have been a concert to see Kim!
The power of One Direction frightens me, I’ve gotta say. I feel like they could release an album of iTunes without any sound, and it’d still top the charts.
Hope you had an amazing time
LOL,you are so right Casey! Those boys could conquer the free world, and not so free, world with just a tweet to their fans, LOL. Now an album without sound would have me putting my wallet back, but with the promise of a cover book full of hot boy band pics my daughter would be asking for an advance on her allowance, LOL
I think that your daughter made a wonderful job of that T shirt. I’m not a musical person myself so concerts aren’t for me, though had I been given the chance to go to a Beatles concert back in the day then I probably would have gone.
