Food Allergies in Children: My Guest Post on The CMR!

I just wanted to share some good news with y’all. May, as we know, is Food Allergy Awareness Month.  I was thrilled to be asked to guest post about Food Allergies in children for a wonderful website called The CMR (Canadian Mother Resource). My post went live this week and I would love for you all to have a peek at it.

This particular post was hard to write, primarily because it involves my son. Food Allergies are a part of our daily lives and while we are much better equipped to handle them now versus five years ago, it is still a reminder of how fragile life is. Being able to freely eat pretty much anything we want is a luxury that not everyone has, but with Food Allergies it is not about taste or how many calories something has. It’s about living.

I invite you to read my post on The CMR, entitled “It Takes A Village To Keep A Child With Food Allergies Safe” and share your thoughts.  While you are there take a look around. The CMR is chock full of interesting articles and wonderful tips and tricks for parents.

You can find The CMR on Twitter and on Facebook.

Great post! and one that is not talked about often enough in my opinion. We don’t have any allergies here, but know quite a few people with them.

Thank you! I try to bring awareness to Food Allergies all the time, but May is the big push month, LOL.

I feel for you, it must be very hard living with a serious allergy. Although I had 7 children not one had a serious life-threatening allergy, for which I am extremely grateful. One was for a time allergic to dust and a couple had intolerance to milk but that was it.

Luckily no one in my family has any food allergies. I can imagine how hard it is though.

Thanks for the links, I am gluten free & just the other day I was out & order from a gluten free menu & still the lady brought me my dinner with flour cooked in it. People are not always thinking that an allergy could be life or death, some think it is just a lifestyle. Great post!
