4 Tips For Beating The Winter Blahs From Nutrition House! #Giveaway CAN 4/2

 beat the winter blahs

Are you sick and tired of being sick and tired? A Q & A With Nutrition House

While it rings especially true in wintertime, we seem to function at a less than optimal threshold – and assume it is OK. We accept less and less from a personal health perspective and become tolerant of the ill-effects it has on our day to day living. For example, many of us use caffeine, sugar and other stimulants just to get us through the day.

But we can all achieve a greater level of health through basic modifications to our current lifestyles. Symptoms such as low energy, fatigue, aches and pains, and low libido are generally thought to be part of the aging process. In fact, they are signs of imbalance or illness. When we adopt healthy living habits, we can delay the onset of illness. Michele Sevier, Director of Education at nutrition house explains the easy steps you can take to to improve your day to day health and gear up for Spring:

1) Stress Reduction & Management
75 to 90 percent of all doctors visits are for stress related complaints or disorders.  Stress hormones suppress normal healthy bodily functions. Chronic stress left unchecked can cause a myriad of health problems – from weight gain to irritability to chronic disease.  It’s important to understand that long term stress can wreak havoc on your body.

2) Nutritional SupplementationMany common aspects of 21st Century living can deplete our body of the nutrients it needs to function properly.  Incorporating some key nutrients and supplements will help restore optimal health and may improve longevity. They can also work preventatively against many diseases and disorders.  A multivitamin, Omega EFA’s, Greens and lean protein are all important foundational supplements.

3) Regular Exercise
Regular exercise increases energy and vitality, reduces the risk of disease, and improves mood, insulin sensitivity, intestinal function and so much more.  Remember, if you don’t use it, you lose it.  To age with grace, engage in regular aerobic, strength training and flexibility exercises.

4) Education & Knowledge
Understanding your situation and available options is paramount to any successful program.  Making an informed decision is important.  Obtaining good health is about taking ownership of your health. Get back to the basics and begin to incorporate the elements of good health into your daily regime.

When there are nice days I try to get outside to get some fresh air. The not so nice days, sometimes I will go to the gym, and when I’m at home I read my books.

It’s hard when it’s so cold, but I try to get my Vitamin D in via the sun when I can. It sure helps to get outside.. and I have found that getting a decent daily water intake sure helps me feel less sluggish as well!
