Kind of a blustery day here as we head into the fall long weekend to celebrate Canadian Thanksgiving. The day is perfect for the way I am feeling; ill. It is kind of cool, windy and rain is on the way. Perfect for sleeping, which is just what I want to do. 🙁 That’s why the invention of the laptop computer is so great! One can be somewhat witty and creative from a prone position, when the urge to blog strikes. 🙂 Now when inspiration hits me, I can usually drum up a Food is Fun post for Fridays. Truth be told food does not inspire me very often. Don’t get me wrong. If it looks good and was prepared by someone else, I am very inspired to eat it. Just not do the actual preparing part myself. What can I say, I don’t enjoy cooking. Or coming up with the meal to be cooked in the first place. Fortunately, my husband makes up for me in that department..
So today, just to keep with the theme, I opened a can of Chicken Noodle Soup, by myself. Seriously. Campbell’s, to be exact. I believe it is considered their Original Style, but I know for sure it is not Home Style. I have never much cared for the home style kind. It is usually full of veggies. I like veggies, just not in chicken noodle soup. This is the kind that has the long noodles, broth and chicken, nothing more. Good for what ails you. Or me, in this case. I enjoyed my soup, but realized as I was looking at the can that the noodles I have loved over the years are in fact egg noodles! I was kind of surprised by this. My son has an egg allergy and while he has never had this soup before, it is not unreasonable that a can could have been in his future. We keep it on hand for days when one is feeling yucky and in need of some soothing nourishment. As history has already shown me many times, William has had and will have yucky feeling days ahead and now my go to “fix” is unsuitable for him. 🙁 In this day and age where every other child is born with or develops food allergies, I would have thought that Campbell’s would be more sensitive to this. Time for some research. I know there are options out there for William, I just have to look for them. We have been successful in finding noodles for pasta night so there must be an egg free Chicken Noodle Soup to.
So, in the midst of this post I have sent an email to Campbell’s, asking about their egg free options, or if they even have any. According to their website, Campbell’s offers gluten free options, so why not egg free. Eggs rank amongst the top ten most common allergens, so it is time they got with the program. Don’t you agree? I will keep you posted on what Campbell’s has to say.
On that note I am taking my ill self and getting another “fix”. The ever popular, all purpose, Ginger-ale. 🙂 Wish me luck!

You’re lucky your husband will cook because I would be taking my life in my hands if I let my husband cook. As for your chicken noodle soup, I have to say that some times I like the original some times and some times I like it loaded up, it all depends if I’m sick or not.
