I guess it was just a matter of time before the world’s most liberal Pope opened his own Instagram account. I mean, he is already on Twitter and rocking almost 9 million followers! He may not have as many as the Biebs, but then again, he doesn’t take his robes off to generate re-tweets. Nor does he have to. Now my mama would possibly say that I am being a bit sacrilegious, but I don’t think I am. In all honesty I love that our beloved Pope Francis has embraced all things 21st Century. As a child born in the 70’s and raised in the ever evolving decades to follow, I think our Pope’s mindset is beautiful! He is open to change, to hear different views, see the world without rose coloured glasses. The world needed this.

In true Pope Francis style his first post is a simple one. It is a photo of him kneeling stating, “Pray for me.” This request was repeated many more times, in eight languages. How cool is that?! As a young-ish Catholic woman who has embraced social media, the good and the bad, I am excited to see my Pope so enthusiastic for sharing his message with the world. He even tweeted out the birth of his new Insta account:
With all of the strife and turmoil our world faces each and every day, getting to see a new photo of the Pontif at work or at rest, is a wonderful thing to look forward, don’t you think?

I follow the Pope on twitter and instagram. I think he is just fabulous and a true saint in every way. I am not even Catholic and I just love him!
Guess I will have to go check him out on twitter,its the way of the times and nice to see hes keeping up.

In conversation i said to my Mom (91) that i am following the Pope on instagram and his Handle is @franciscus…..she just nods her head and says”the times have sure changed”

I actually like this Pope; I respect his stance and his actions. He seems to be genuine, authentic.
I guess it is another way to connect with the people.
He certainly is keeping up with things!
