Recently I had the opportunity of a lifetime in the form of an invitation to attend the 2016 Disney Social Media Moms Celebration! As I have mentioned previously, this event is something I have longed to be invited to since before my blog was born. The event is by invitation only, so it makes it all the more special when you receive one of approximately 150 personalized emails summoning you to the ball, err conference. With literally hundreds of thousands of social media influencers out there in the blogosphere today, why pick me? Well, I really have no concrete answer for you, but I knew two things for sure: one, I was going and two, I wanted to represent Canada, my home and native land, as awesomely as I possibly could. 🙂
The Disney Social Media Moms Celebration (DSMMC) offers it’s attendees all sorts of wonderful surprises, held at various locations in Disney World. As a self professed non-fashionista, I knew I would need some help to make my family presentable for the various events we would be attending. My first thought was to contact Mark’s, a proudly Canadian clothing store that first opened it’s doors in 1977 as the former Mark’s Work Wearhouse. They were very receptive to the idea of helping some of the MapleMouseMama clan get gussied up in some of their new Spring line!
Half the fun in preparing for a big outing or trip is the planning and shopping that happens before. As soon as Mark’s told us they would love to attend DSMMC with us, Emily and I visited our local store. One of the things I love about Mark’s is that you can get items that allow you to be comfortable, yet look stylish and put together without breaking the bank.
After spending time searching through the racks Emily and I had loaded up with a huge selection of items to try on. I knew that I wanted shorts or capris for days in the parks, but also tops or tanks that would make Emily feel feminine while keeping her cool. The temperatures in Florida during our stay were going to be over 30 degrees, but the lightweight material of many Mark’s casual wear was the perfect solution. We had a blast trying on outfit after outfit, with the only drawback being that I could not possible take all of it home. 😉
Now Emily is a typical teen in that she likes dark colours, especially in her clothing choices. Most of the bottoms she went with were either navy or black, but Mark’s has a wonderful array of lighter colours, like white, beige or khaki for those who are more adventurous. 🙂 One of my favourite things to see, although it was hard to convince Emily to try them on, were the sweet summer dresses Mark’s carries. Ranging from knee to ankle length, there is a dress to suit anyone’s preference.
Something else to like about Mark’s is that they are literally one stop shopping for all of your outdoor wear needs. They have a massive footwear section that had the most adorable sandals, slip on shoes and little rubber booties for those occasional summer showers. You could have a different pair of summer shoes for every day of the week and all at an affordable price. The quality of the workmanship found in Mark’s clothing also means that you can wear your shoes, sandals and outfits for more than one year. They wash well and last. There is no better value than that.
Shopping at Mark’s for the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration was a huge load off of my mind because I knew that the items we purchased would look amazing and stand up to the heat of Florida. Stay tuned to see how well we all cleaned up!

We are longtime fans of Mark’s. They have something for just about everyone, their prices are great and it is also our go-to store for Christmas and birthday gifts.

I always forget about Marks having a ladies section, looks like some super cute finds and love the sneakers! I’ll have to remember to go in the next time my hubby does!
It is definitely not just for work wear anymore Crystal. Mark’s has lovely clothes for ladies that are great for any occasion. Their dress section surprised me, in good way. 😉 We will be heading back for school clothes in the fall.
I like Marks, but I haven’t shopped there in a years – which is silly because I live close to one. I remember I really liked their yoga pants. I may head there after pre school drop off 🙂

My go to summer outfit for keeping cool is a flowing elastic top dress with no sleeves and a lightweight gauze shirt popped on top as a jacket.

I love the clothing choice at MARK’S, but like one of the other women who commented here said, the clothing at MARK’S is not large enough for me. I can wear a sixe 18 in some makes, and yet XXL in other makes is not large enough. Go figure! But this blog made me think, Suzanne, maybe I should check out MARK’S again. I’ll probably leave with something for my husband which is usually the case1 LOL Congrats on your invitation to the Disney “Do”.
It’s so easy for me to wear a summer dress every day with my boys. My husband loves Marks for everything. It’s such a great store. It has everything he needs.
