One of my most favourite people in the whole wide world is my mom and I bet your mama is a pretty important person in your life as well. They gave us life, they taught us how to eat, sit up and say thank you. Moms across the world have been staying up all night long with their sick kiddos, wiping boogies from runny noses and holding back hair while a young’in throws up. Mothers have been attending school plays for years, driving their children to sports events and brownie camp and have been sewing Halloween costumes late into the night for centuries.
Moms work hard, play hard and love even harder and they deserve some recognition! Guess what? We have a way to show some.

A whole day spent with Mom was always my tradition. Wish she were still here to do it again.
mothers day tradition now is spending time with my boys on mothers day, we hang out together and then we will go to my mom’s grave and put flowers there, she has been gone 5 years but we always take the time especially on mothers day to go visit her so she knows we are thinking of her.
In mother’s day all our family comes together for celebration.

My favorite Mother’s Day Tradition is taking my mom out for dinner at a really fancy restaurant. It’s only once a year so she deserves a special treat as she does not usually go to restaurants. I pick a different one every year.

In my childhood innocence, it never occurred to me that though the flower was hidden, the scent still filled the room. I never gave her a dead flower even though I might have been “hiding” it for weeks. 🙂

I usually share my Mother’s Day celebrate with my husband as it is also my Anniversary weekend.

I remember as a young child & my 4 siblings would first attend Sunday noon mass. And then the whole family would drive to KFC for dinner. We each received a KFC box with 2 pieces of chicken, corn on the cob, mashed potatoes with gravy and a little bag with a wet wipe, plastic spork, knife, salt/pepper and a paper napkin.
We go to the garden centre every Mother’s Day to get a start on our spring gardening.

When I was very little we always had something hand made for mom & as we grew older a special trinket depending on our earning power lol., I recall at 16 finding a music box porcelain statue of a Japanese geisha in blue grey on white playing a mandolin . I am straining to recall the tune it was beautiful mom loved it. Dad would have bought flowers , a bouquet for mom and his mom Annie. Often Dad would get take out chicken , fish 7& chips, and this very special cake that to this day I try to find. Dad passed in 2012 and mom has copd and now lives a way out of town with my sister under home nursing care. I miss those days and hope to see her for Mother’s Day..

In my childhood, there was always a big family gathering on my mother’s side. One of her siblings, or her, would host the Mother’s Day gathering which included a big dinner. Grandma would get a corsage to wear and her day was celebrated with the many grandchildren all over the place!
We would always enjoy a great meal – usually breakfast (which my gramma and mom loved), but sometimes Chinese Food – a favourite for us 🙂
We visit my Nana’s grave with my Mom and siblings and then go out for the rest of the day.

My birthday, and my Dad’s birthday, an my sister’s mother-in-law’s birthdays fall around the date of Mother’s Day also, so we tend to celebrate our birthdays all together on Mother’s Day also.
