Typically this last week of summer vacation is filled with moaning sounds coming from my children while they lament that they never want to go back to school. It’s understandable really. When you have to give up sleeping in every day, hours spent on your bike and staying up late to watch movies during the week, it is hard. Knowing the drudgery of homework lies ahead is making at least one of my children wish they were a lot older. 🙂 But you know what? Knowing that they are heading back to school means something even scarier is about to happen.
What Are Parents NOT Looking Forward To This Fall?
Laundry:
Okay, so maybe laundry isn’t the best one to start off with because it has to be done all of the time, but there is something special about laundry at this time of the year that makes it stand out – and not in a good way. Think about it. Gross gym clothes smelling of sweat and lord knows what else, will now make an appearance. Knowing they have been fermenting in the bottom of your kids gym bag all week long is enough to make me throw in the towel already. Yuck! Then there is the pile of lovely new clothes your teen daughter just had to have. She wears something for all of ten minutes then throws it in the hamper, thus making the laundry pile about 50% bigger than it usually is. A time sucker and money waster, all in one. 🙁 But, there is hope if you follow these steps:
Step 1: Beg your kiddos to treat their clothes with care (good luck!).
Step 2: Equip yourself with a killer laundry arsenal that’s always at your fingertips. For example, stock up on OxiClean™ Colour Shield Liquid Laundry Stain Remover, it keeps colours looking their brightest. And OxiClean™ White Revive™ Stain Remover Powder has your whites covered as it’s specially formulated to maintain whites – without chlorine bleach! For inevitable stains, turn to OxiClean™ Laundry Stain Remover Spray and OxiClean™ Max Force™ Gel Stick to pre-treat in advance of your next laundry day.
Step 3: Teach your children to do their own darn laundry.
Aches and pains:
Back to school means aches and pains that were never present during the warm, happy months of vacation. With gym class back on the daily menu, the long walk (through wind, rain and hail, up huge mountains and across raging rivers) to and from school every day and of course, all of that running around and playing outside at recess, comes new pains for your child to describe to you in great detail. This is the perfect time to remind them that an early bedtime will help them feel better in the morning. 🙂
But what if you are a teacher, standing up in front of the class all day or the school custodian, busy cleaning up after hundreds of children? The aches and pains can and will start on day one. Be prepared by having topical pain relievers such as RUB·A535™ Extra Strength Heating Cream on hand for those muscle aches and nagging pains. It delivers fast-acting, warm, penetrating relief of muscle, joint, back and arthritic pain.
Cavities:
My son is convinced that Halloween is not far off and he is actually right! Once the carefree days of summer are completely behind us, holidays like Thanksgiving, Halloween and even Christmas will be here. For you this means an extra-long to-do list. For your kids, it’s the start of a regular diet of candy and chocolate so brushing their teeth will be extra important! When brushing is fun, your kids will want to brush their teeth! They’ll love the novelty of the moving brush head on Arm & Hammer™ Spinbrush™ Kids Battery Toothbrush and designs such as My Little Pony™ and Paw Patrol™ will get them even more excited.
Now dish with me a little moms, dads and caregivers alike; what are you NOT looking forward to about back to school time?
