My son loves to use word play or puns to have fun with people, so I knew that the game Balderdash would be perfect for him. And I was not wrong. 🙂 Ask any ten year what is more fun than pulling a successful prank on someone or getting them all confused with a joke or story and they will be hard-pressed to answer. That makes Balderdash the board game to play in our house right now.Â
Balderdash
How good are you at convincing others that you are right? Balderdash lets you make up fake definitions or answers to questions. Everyone submits an answer and votes; the answer with the most votes wins, even if it’s completely wrong!
The game of Balderdash features interesting, unbelievably true content and categories about people, words, initials and movies. Once a category is chosen and the question is read out for everyone, each player must than write down what they think is the correct definition or answer to the question. The real fun begins when the phony definitions are read along with the correct ones! You and your family are sure to get many laughs out of Balderdash when you hear the hilarious and creative definitions. 🙂Â

Well, it is pretty simple really. This game allows everyone to stretch their creative muscle a little or a lot and have fun with words! We have not stopped laughing since we first started playing Balderdash.
This game is recommended for ages 12 and up, but my ten year old loves to play it and is often the most creative one in the bunch. I would not let the age suggestions stop you from playing this with younger children. And if you are looking for more suggestions on games you can play with your family, children included, check out this one.
What is your family’s current favourite game to play on game night?

I’ve never played Balderdash but it does sound like a lot of laughs and not as serious as some games, great for children.
