Celebrating The Spring Harvest With GLAD!

May 11, 2015 By: MapleMouseMama33 Comments

GLAD

Spring is such a great time of the year for so many reasons: the cold weather has left us, mostly and the sun warms the earth all day long, flowers and plants bloom in all their glory, little creatures come out of hibernation to explore the world and the Spring Harvest is plentiful.  I have fond memories of going strawberry picking with my family every Spring.  We would fill as many quart baskets as we could carry and my Mom would make the best strawberry jam you have every tasted…sigh.. Those were some good times and some great strawberries. 🙂

Spring brings us a ton of wonderful produce to make our snacks and meals taste fresh and new.  Let’s face it, in the winter it is hard to find great tasting fruits and veggies at the grocery store that have not spent days in shipping containers.  The Spring Harvest lets us enjoy nature’s best offerings and savour them all season long.

One of the ways I enjoy Spring’s bounty is in a salad.  Mixing in fresh greens with cut up strawberries, some beautiful blueberries and shredded carrots is both healthy and great tasting.  Add in some protein and we are good to go. It is easy for me to pack a salad for lunch because I use the GLAD® Lunch To Go containers!  These handy little packs allow me to have my salad inside, fresh and ready for lunch and they keep my dressing safe inside the same container! How smart is that?! I can always count on GLAD products to keep my food preserved until I am ready to eat it and the nice thing about the Lunch To Go containers is that they don’t leak. There is no need to worry about dressing spilling on your lettuce and wilting it before you are ready to chow down! I have also used the GLAD Lunch To Go containers for taking a pile of fresh fruit with some yogurt for dipping.  It fits perfectly in my lunch bag and takes up less space because it is literally a two in one container.

GLADGLADGLAD

Fresh fruit can taste great in a variety of ways and one of the coolest treats we have experimented with is freezing things like grapes, blueberries and raspberries.  They are a refreshing treat when you feel like it or the perfect topper for a sundae, yogurt and even cereal. I use the GLAD FreezerWare containers for just this purpose. The small size holds a decent helping of fruit and slides perfectly into the freezer.  FreezerWare keeps my yummy Spring Harvest finds from getting freezer burn and the containers are crack resistant! The kids and I have taken some frozen fruit to school and work for morning snack and with the GLAD FreezerWare I can just put it right into our lunch bags. I love the convenience and feel safe using GLAD as they are BPH-Free.

GLAD

It wouldn’t be Spring if we didn’t crack open the juicer to make some fresh drinks. While I am not the best at it, the kids seem to enjoy it when we smash berries together to make our own thirst quencher. I recently discovered a great use for the GLAD Press’n Seal wrap.  The smell of the sweet, fresh juice often attracts some visitors of the winged kind when the kids have a drink on the deck.  We have started to use GLAD Press’n Seal to solve the problem of sharing our drinks with these, uh, friends. Just watch:

So whether you are making your own jams and jellies, trying to come up with new and exciting ideas for lunch or just in the mood for a refreshing beverage, make sure you check out how GLAD can protect your Spring Harvest with their great line up of food protection products. If you feel like having a picnic, give us a holler. 🙂

What fresh produce do you look forward to enjoying the most each Spring? I love all of the fresh fruits, with raspberries being my favourite.

I love the press and seal wrap, perfect for when I use some of my pretty plastic bowls that look great but cling wrap doesn’t stick to.

There’s something about the warmth of the spring and the blooming of the flowers that always make me smile. And on a side note, I can’t live without my containers too. It’s simply a must-have when going out or having a picnic.

I’m actually a Glad user but I think I should visit the supermarket again and look for these containers, cause I’ve not seen any of those yet.

I like this kind of containers for outdoor activities and really for my own salads. So many different kinds and styles in the market today. Containers like these are very helpful one way or the other.

I’ve always loved GLAD products – gives me this tendency to hoard them each time I’m at the supermarket. While their products are pretty basic, they always have this new innovation that makes GLAD users like me love the brand even more. The container with the salad dip cup is very convenient. I don’t think I’ve already seen that here but I’m definitely making a purchase when I see it in the shelves of our supermarkets.
