Wow, this has probably been the toughest “favorite” to narrow down so far. I mean, who has only two favorite memories from Disney World, right? Well, I was able to trim my list, but I can’t promise some honorable mentions won’t make their way into this post 🙂 Time will tell. So sit back and relax. This is week eight of Destination Disney, brought to you by Heidi’s Head! Don’t forget to stop by Heidi’s and check out the other amazing posts by my fellow Disney loving bloggers 🙂
1) Emily’s First Kiss
My daughter’s first trip to Disney World occurred when she was almost four and it was super special for my husband and I. Emily’s joy was obvious the whole time. This trip is chock full of wonderful cherished memories, but one that always stands out for me is Emily’s First Kiss from a princess 🙂 The trip was not long, just six days and we met Princess Aurora and Prince Phillip on our last day, a Magic Kingdom day. It has become our tradition to have the last day always be a MK day. As you can see from the photos to follow Emily and her dad watched the show, which I can’t for the life of me recall the name of, and in it Princess Aurora and Prince Phillip are presented. Emily seemed nervous, but very intent while watching and although she had by now met several characters, she was still quite shy with them.
We lined up to meet the Princess after her show and soon it was Emily’s turn. She was so nervous she had her hands clasped in front of her! What stands out in my mind the most is how patient and sweet Sleeping Beauty was to my princess. She knelt down to Emily immediately, then proceeded to have this quiet chat, never rushing her. I caught bits of the conversation and Emily’s nerves were calmed as she told Aurora her age, favorite colour and how pretty she was. My heart melted and I could barely contain my tears. The hug came next and then a kiss from a princess, Emily’s first. There was more hugs and we were done. I was so impressed with how much time Princess Aurora and Prince Phillip spent with Emily and it has endeared them to my heart forever 🙂
2) Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique
My next memory ties for first place and this was from my daughter’s second trip home. We shared our vacation with family this time and my daughter had her two cousins along. All three girls have birthdays at the beginning of the year so we decided to celebrate them during this January trip. I booked them all at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique in Downtown Disney for the first appointment of the day. The girls had their princess dresses on and we had the place to ourselves! The whole experience at the BBB is magical, there is no doubt about it, but add in an already emotional mama and the Kleenex is a must have. 🙂 Emily was so excited to become a princess, but when the process started she got very quiet. At first I thought she was not enjoying it, but later she told me she wanted to “soak it all in” 🙂 This dramatic streak has only become more obvious as she has grown 🙂 The girls got to pick out there colours and proceeded to get nails, eyes and lips done. Are those not the cutest little shoes?!
One of my favorite photos from this batch is of Emily holding up her hand to show her age. She was turning five soon, so she had four fingers out. I don’t think she spoke a word the whole time. 🙂 Cousin Kayla chose the Fairytale Princess style and looked beautiful! Cousin Krystin chose the Disney Diva style and she looked super cute! Emily went with the Pop Princess and it was perfect on her. 🙂 I took tons of photos that day, but getting her face jewel and tiara were super special for me, I mean Emily 🙂 These photos and the memories just melt my heart. <3
Emily had her reveal in the mirror and was so happy! I think I nearly burst! The Fairy Godmothers in Training were wonderful and patient. They kept telling me how sweet my princess was. We lucked out with a great bunch of FGiT. The icing on the cake happened right after. Because we had the first appointment of the day the store World of Disney was not opened. All three girls were asked to “open” the store for Minnie and they were given some sweet swag for their efforts! I love the photo with all of the Cast Members behind them. 🙂 To cap it all off the girls had their photo shoot which we added to our Photo Pass. We got some beautiful photos that day and capped it off with lunch at Akershus in Epcot. Emily was thrilled when she got to show her favorite princess, Cinderella, how she was dressed like her. Can you say Best Day Ever?!!!
Honorable Mentions
I can not finish off this list without some honorable mentions. I have four of them, so please be patient. 🙂
A) Emily was so frightened from the It’s Tough To Be A Bug show in Animal Kingdom that when we went shortly after to see the Festival of the Lion King she hid under the bleacher seat convinced it would be just as scary as ITTBAB! She was three, almost four and I giggled my head off. 🙂
B) Our first family trip together and first family photo with Mickey and Minnie. I waited in line for an hour and a half while my hubby and child played, but it was worth it. 🙂 <3
C) Emily had so much fun dancing through the water spouts at Ariel’s Grotto that she got soaked! It was hot and we had a change of clothes so we let her have at it. 🙂
D) Emily climbed all over this statue of Goofy for a good five minutes when he suddenly spoke to her. Her yelp and subsequent jump off had me in stitches! 🙂
Share your favorite Disney memory with me in the comments. I would love to hear all about it. 🙂
