Here we are at week 2 of Destination Disney’s meme and the topic is our top nine most favorite characters. Not such an easy task as any Disney lover will tell you. Who can narrow the field that much?! It was hard, but I did it, well sort of 🙂 This week I am going to start with my numero uno because my favorite, actually favorites are what Disney is to me. Plain and simple. After all, it did start with a mouse…
1. Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse
The two go hand in hand and that is all there is to it. I can’t possibly split them into two separate favorites because they belong together. Like bacon and eggs and the moon and the stars. I love them most in their traditional red and white, but I will take them any way I can get them 🙂 Getting Mickey and Minnie’s autograph and photograph is a trip must for me. I recall my first meet and greet with them and I will share that I was an adult, not a child. I waited in line for over an hour and a half while my hubby and daughter played in Fantasyland. It was a dream come true. I do have photos, but not on line, so for now I will share some other favorites.
2. Sleeping Beauty, Briar Rose, Princess Aurora
This little gal with the three names is my favorite princess. I have a soft spot for princesses. Sleeping Beauty became my favorite over Cindy during our first trip to Disney World with my daughter. During a meet and greet Emily was being very shy, kind of scared. Sleeping Beauty knelt down to Emily’s level and pulled her in close. They whispered to each other and Emily’s shyness disappeared. Then Sleeping Beauty gave my princess a kiss on her cheek that had Emily squealing! We took a photo of the kiss mark in lipstick and to this day, looking at that photo always brings me back to the princess who eased my daughter’s fears. Of course that beloved photo is not on my puter, but soon.
3. Marie
I have always loved cats and that is probably why The AristoCats is my all time favorite Disney movie. I have watched it tons of times, love the cats, the songs, the adventure and especially Miss Marie. She is just such a charmer, who could not love this little lady 🙂 Emily and I finally had a chance to meet Marie in Epcot this past December and it was a very special experience for us both.
4. Eeyore
A lot of people don’t like Eeyore because he can be grumpy. I think he is not so much grumpy as he is misunderstood. He is the type to take things to heart and worry about others and he and I have that in common. Eeyore wears his heart on his sleeve and is just a sweet, soft, grey dude. Since I was very little I have always loved Eeyore and a day without him is kind of gloomy. Plus he gives great hugs and kisses 🙂
5. Cinderella
Now as I mentioned earlier, Cindy used to be my favorite. I still love and adore her, no doubt about it. She is now Emily’s favorite princess so even if she did some nasty deed she would endear herself to me. I think Cinderella represents childhood dreams to me, to many girls my age. She got the guy in the end and overcame those evil cows (sorry, can’t resist). But her story is classic and will always be a great reminder that we are all princesses 🙂 We have dined at Miss Cindy’s Castle, but we also had the chance to dine at her country home, 1900 Park Fare ( that is what I told Emily it was, her country home. Pretty clever, huh?) She captured my heart that day when she asked Emily to dance. It was a beautiful moment for me, I mean Emily…
6. Belle
Another princess, yes I know, but I warned ya:-) Now Belle is a classy gal, for many reasons; she loves her dad, she loves to read, she is kind to those less fortunate and she can see beauty where others see only beast. Love the story, love the lady. Plain and simple.
7. Goofy
Goofy is just sweet and loveable. Many will agree, I’m sure. William has not had much interaction with characters, yet, but Goofy was his first and William was hooked. That is why he made my list. That and his charming way of calling Toodles, from the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, anything but Toodles 🙂
8. Stitch
Now Stitch is a bit of a wild child and I think that is why I love him so much! That and he lives in Hawaii and loves Elvis. Who doesn’t love Elvis? The Lilo and Stitch movies were a different kind of Disney movie and I was hooked at the first one. Lilo’s smarmy attitude was priceless, but to have a “dog” with an even bigger attitude? Just too irresistible to resist 🙂
9. Donald
Donald Duck is a hapless duck who struggles to be as popular as his pal Mickey. Doesn’t he know we all love him just as much, well, almost 🙂 Donald makes me laugh and that is a good thing. His raspy voice and sputtering chatter make me smile and his shear frustration when things do not go his way is just charming. Awww, phooey, you know what I am talking about. And I just love, love, love Donald’s role in Mickey’s PhilharMagic, which is one of my favorite shows in all of Disney World. Hence my photo. It sums Donald up!
So there you have it, my top nine (or so) favorite Disney characters. I could spend all of my time at the world just visiting with the characters, getting autographs and pictures. Now it is your turn. Share your lists with me in the comments section and let’s see if we have something in common 🙂 Be sure to visit Heidi’s Head and check out the other posts on Destination Disney, Week 2! Thanks for stopping by..

Thanks Heidi, I really had fun with this one 🙂 Characters are the meat and potatoes of Disney for me and I could have gone on and on….

You’ve got a great list here but my ultimate favorite was always Cinderella because I always felt like she and I were in similar situations especially how Prince Charming was going to find me and we were going to “live happily ever after”. I remember how I was 10 at the time !
