In keeping with this strange year you must have a digital poppy. Sounds a little strange, right? Even though today is Remembrance Day, it is never too late to get your poppy and wear it or proudly share it. People have often complained that they bought their poppies weeks ago, only to have it fall off and be lost forever. This unfortunately deters folks from getting a second, third or even fourth poppy replacement. That means fewer donations to those who deserve it – the veterans.
This year The Royal Canadian Legion has added something new to the 2020 Poppy Fund. It is a digital poppy! All you have to do is visit MyPoppy.ca and you will be taken directly to the website that helps you create your own. Whether you chose Canada as your home or were fortunate enough to be born here, we all get to enjoy values like freedom, democracy and respect for others. Veterans stood up for those rights, but now it is up to us to uphold them. You can wear a beautiful poppy on the left hand side of your top, as close to your heart as possible and/or you can now create your own Digital Poppy as well.
When you create your Digital Poppy you can also honour our veterans by dedicating it in the memory of someone. Perhaps you have a relative who was a vet or a family friend. You might have a family member serving in the force now. Or you can even just thank those who served. Once your poppy is ready, you will have the opportunity to make a donation to The Royal Canadian Legion to help with this year’s Poppy Fund. Remember that no amount is too small; however it is not a requirement to get your digital poppy.
