Disney never disappoints, be it a movie, a song or an ice show. Last night my family and I were treated to the opening night of Disney On Ice: Treasure Trove at the Rogers Centre in Toronto and we had a blast! William was especially excited because the last time this little guy went to see a Disney On Ice show he fell asleep and missed his favorite characters, Woody and Buzz. Not only did William not fall asleep this time, but Woody and Buzz, along with Jessie and a few other friends from Toy Story, were first on the ice! William was jumping up and down, singing and dancing with the gang. It was magical!
The fun did not stop there. Mickey and his pals Donald, Goofy and his lady love Minnie, soon came out to greet their fans and get the show started. Diehard Disney fan that I am I was waving right back at them. 🙂 The shows line up was extensive, but fast paced. I was shocked at how quickly intermission came! The entertainment ranged from watching the ever dastardly Captain Hook skate away from the Tick Tock Croc (only to end up in him) to a dance party with the Lost Boys. Tinker Bell flew in to shower us all in pixie dust after Peter Pan saved the day!
I loved the segment with Simba, Timon and Pumba from the Lion King. Having not seen this movie in a little while I was right in there laughing with this unusual trio and getting all vaklemp singing “The Circle of Life.” ♥ It made me long to see The Festival Of The Lion King at The Animal Kingdom in Disney World.
Princesses, and their Princes, ruled the second half of the show with appearances by none other than Snow White and her Prince (along with seven short guys 🙂 ) Rapunzel and Flynn, Ariel and Eric, Jasmine and Aladdin and Tiana and Naveen. The costumes presented during The Little Mermaid are amazing! The depth of colour, the beautiful flowy fabric. I felt like I was “Under the Sea.” 🙂 All of the classic princesses came out for the delightful finale, dancing and singing in their gorgeous gowns.
As with any Disney On Ice show the talent of the skaters is phenomenal! These athletes can not only transport you to a place of magic and mayhem, but also entertain you with their skill and precision. From jumps and flips, to twirls, spins and general horseplay, you will be entranced from beginning to end. We were surprised with a little extra at the very end of the show when two cast members came out to give us a little peek behind the scenes of Disney On Ice! My family and I had the opportunity to see how the special effects, costumes and props work as well as be introduced to some home grown Canadian cast members. It was so cool!
Disney On Ice: Treasure Trove will be running at the Rogers Centre in Toronto until December 28th so there are plenty of shows you can take in. What a wonderful way to start the holidays! You can check out the schedule and buy tickets all in the same place!

I received something of value from Feld Entertainment as part of their Insider Program. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

I would entirely enjoy watching Lion King characters on ice. 🙂 Haven’t been to a Disney On Ice event for *years*, but have been thinking of checking out the show once more now that the nephew is old enough to enjoy it!

Treasure Trove sounded like an awesome Disney on Ice show! I so wish Disney on Ice came to Victoria. I’d bring the family every year.

Ooh, any Disney characters would be awesome to see! I think the Lion King or Beauty and the Beast would top my list though.
