A good ole fashioned family game night is what we all need every now and then. It helps us to keep in touch with one another (especially as the kiddos get older) and find new ways to keep entertained (that don’t involve a screen.) Just tonight my son and I played Monopoly, which he loves. Yes, it gets a little competitive, but that is just an opportunity to teach a life lesson or two. We love family game night and have a few favourites we want to share with you. It might be a good idea to put one of these under the tree this year. **GIVEAWAY has ended.**
Braintopia
In Braintopia, you and up to five other players compete in quick challenges that test your observation skills and coordination. Solve the puzzles faster than everyone else to win! Ticket to Ride: London
Welcome to the 70’s world capital of fashion and music. Jump aboard a famous double-decker bus to ride through London’s historic streets, breeze past Buckingham Palace, listen to Big Ben’s chimes as they echo across the Thames or pop into the British Museum. In Ticket to Ride: London players race one another to claim the most important bus lines and complete their Destination Tickets, connecting Districts in the capital of the United Kingdom. This stand-alone version of Ticket to Ride is a great game for beginners and seasoned players. Ages 6+; $34.99
Balderdash
How good are you at convincing others that you’re right? Balderdash lets you make up fake definitions or answers to questions. Everyone submits an answer and votes; the answer with the most votes wins, even if it’s completely wrong! Ages 12+; $24.99
Yum Yum Island
On Yum Yum Island, all the animals used to live peacefully until an ogre decided to move in. Somewhat of a glutton, he devoured all of the available food, leaving the animals in great distress. Take on the role of a pelican squadron flying to help the animals. Airdrop food to them so that they can recover their strength and run away! But beware of the poor weather that may affect your visibility: huge clouds could prevent a proper airdrop! Or the ogre might get all the food. Ages 6+; $34.99
Rubik’s Race
My son’s newest favourite to play on family game night is Rubik’s Race. It is a fast-paced game for two players that will get your brain and fingers racing! Shake the scrambler to mix the tiles up and then go head to head with your opponent to shift and slide the tiles to be the first to make the 3×3 centre match the pattern. It may sound easy, but Rubik’s Race is a game of speed, skill and dexterity. Ages 5+; $29.99
