Everything old is new again with the Instax Square SQ6 Instant Camera from Fujifilm. And by old I mean the act of having an actual photo in your hand and not just a picture, on a screen, saved to an album on your phone. Now, don’t get me wrong. I love using my phone to take on-the-go photos of events that I might have otherwise missed out on. But the truth of the matter is, I have not printed a photo in years. And, it’s kind of sad really.
It is this reality that makes me love Fujifilm’s line up of instant cameras, but their newest one is my favourite! The Instax SQ6 instant camera is exactly as it’s name describes – it’s square! And so are the photos it prints out for you instantly! This may not seem like a big deal to you, but when you look at how the photos turn out, you will see what I love about it. Have a look at the example below. It shows you the difference between how a photo taken on an Instax Mini looks versus one taken on the Instax SQ6.
Neat, huh? And don’t get me wrong. The Instax Mini’s have a definite place in this world. My kids love taking photos with them. My daughter covered her locker with Instax Mini photos this past school year, but methinks she will want to mix it up a bit with the Instax SQ6 this fall. The look of each printed photo is very uniform, 1.5 times bigger than the Instax Mini prints and, to use the teen’s words, aesthetically pleasing. Between the vintage look of the casing and the pretty colours the Instax SQ6 comes in, I can totally see what she means. 🙂
The features of the Instax SQ6 are pretty cool as well. You still have the ability to take a great selfie with the built-in selfie mode and mirror, so your teens will be happy. We also have:
Automatic Exposure Control
This function brightens both the subject and background for capturing photos within dark rooms and night scenes.
Landscape Mode
Ideal for capturing subjects in the distance (2m – beyond).
Double Exposure Mode
In this function, you can press the shutter twice to capture an artistic shot with two images in the same print.
3 Strobe Colour Filters
Three strobe color filters (included) can be attached to the flash to add a pop of color to our photos.
With all of this beauty and the ability to hold your photo in your hands almost immediately, don’t you just want to run out and get your own Instax SQ6 Instant Camera?
