We had been coming to Orlando for Walt Disney World for years, so when we moved down here, we knew we were going to go to Universal Studios. I had been looking forward to it since we decided we were going to move from the Midwest to Florida.
I hadn’t really done any research on Universal Studios. I knew it was two parks, Universal Studios Proper and Islands of Adventure. I knew that the Wizarding World of Harry Potter is in Islands of Adventure, but other than that, I knew nothing else. I had no idea what to expect.
After we entered Universal Studios Islands of Adventure, we headed to the right, because after all we were planning on making a beeline for Hogwarts. But to our surprise we came across Seuss Landing. Now I love Dr Seuss. With three grown children, a high schooler and two toddlers, Dr Seuss has been an integral part of my life for the last 20 plus years.
Seuss Landing is like walking into the pages of a Dr Seuss book. My two year old and one year old both lit up immediately when they saw all the bright colors.
This area of the park has a water play area that we can literally spend hours at! A one fish, two fish ride that is very similar to Dumbo the Flying Elephant or Aladdin’s Magic Carpet Ride. A Cat in the Hat ride that spins quite a bit, I would say it is a cross between the Winnie the Pooh ride and the Teacups. There is a carousel that is full of Seuss characters, and one of my son’s favorite rides, a train that runs high above the heads of those walking through Seuss Landing. There is a candy shop and three souvenir shops that have everything from Dr Seuss books, to clothing, mugs, stuffed animals and so much more.
Just to give you a taste of Seuss Landing, please enjoy the sites we have captured below.

Nice.
I have been going to IOA since before it opened! Hehehehee… Planning stages. And I have NEVER seen Green eggs and Ham open!
Planning stages Jud? As in being officially involved or are you pulling my leg?
I myself have only ever been to Universal once and that was in 1995. I have no idea in Seuss Landing was there then or not, but I know my kids would love to check it out now! Thanks for stopping by Jud
Suz
They are only open for a couple hours a day. We have tried them once, but our two babies love the water play area right beside it.
I am guessing that “Green Eggs and Ham” maybe only serves breakfast then, LOL
Suz
Planning stages? Oh please tell more! – We have only seen it open a few times, it is considered a seasonal restaurant.
Something tells me that Jud is pulling our leg a bit, LOL

My wonderful memories of Universal were brought streaming back but…..confession…..not for Dr. Seuss and friends…..but the SPIDERMAN Ride! Since I have not had children and was an older child when Dr. Seuss was introduced, I’m not as familiar with him and his ‘family and friends’ as you parents and grandparents would be. What DISNEY devotion! To move from Omaha, to Florida all for love of DISNEY! I’ll bet there are many who would love to have the opportunity to join Aunesty Janssen and her family. Thanks for sharing MapleMouseMama!
Gemma I have heard a lot about this Spiderman Ride, LOL. It seems to have attracted a few fans
I hope to take my kids there someday, but heart will always belong to Disney.
It is pretty incredible that Aunesty and her family made such a relocation for the Mouse, but I can see how the passion would drive you. As much as I love Mickey though I don’t think I could the heat year round, LOL.
Thanks for stopping by and checking out my first Guest Blogger!
Suz
It has been a dream come true! But the Spiderman ride is AWESOME! The Transformer ride is just like it, but better. Bigger screens so you feel more in it.
I am up for the Transformer ride, I LOVE those movies, LOL! The Spider-man ride sure does seem popular though, LOL.

Hi Suzanne, Your guest blogger Aunesty brought back a lot of memories. Just over a year ago I was in Florida and did make a visit to Universal and it wasn’t Adventure Island that had my attention. We did make a quick run through and I do remember seeing parts of Seuss Landing, but not being a fan of Dr. Seuss and with my children all grown up, I am leaving Dr. Seuss to them. lol However the party I was with went on to the rest of the park and we came across the best ride in all of Disney, the SPIDERMAN RIDE. Absolutely wonderful. If there wasn’t such a line up I am sure we all would have gone a second time. We then went on to see what they had made of Harry Potter. Enjoyed your stroll today it brought back some great memories, and that’s a good thing. Thanks Mom
I am really thinking I need to put a day at Universal in my next Disney itinerary now. Since William loves Spider man, I think he would love this ride you speak so highly of! I have some great memories of my one and only trip to Universal, in 1995 and would love to add to them. Harry Potter would be an absolute must for me as well. I am glad you enjoyed Aunesty’s post. She takes some pretty great photos!
Suz ♥
Did you do the Hulk? We have several favorite rides in IOA, but since we have two toddlers we have to make a stop at Seuss Landing, it has the only rides for little ones…
Aunesty, is the no other play place or rides for the little ones at all at Universal? Just Suess Landing? That would be a bit inconvenient..
Suz
Okay…so far in my life time (hmm….42 years) I have not had the opportunity to go to Disney, and I’ve seen many photos of Disney, but seeing Suess Landing……I sooooo want to go!! I’m a lover of Dr. Suess and seeing life size images, well let’s just say I’m a “little”….okay….”a lot” jealous!! Lol Maybe I’ll even take my kids with me?!! Thanks for sharing!!
And as always Suzanne…..thanks for blogging…..I truly enjoy the read!! And awesome pictures!!
Brenda
Thanks! I love taking pictures of everywhere we go!
Seuss Landing is pretty special, it really feels like you are in the books and part of the story. I hope you can make it to Universal and Disney one day.
Your photos are wonderful Aunesty! Come heck or high water I am working on getting them down there, LOL
Suz
So you know what I am going to say, right Brenda?
The eight of us would have a great time and the kids would love Suess Landing. We have to start planning, LOL
Thank you for stopping by and checking out Aunesty’s post Brenda. It is great to have your support ♥
