Halloween is taking on a new look this year, but that doesn’t mean the Halloween hoopla has to stop. In fact, it just means we can go wild with our imaginations and try something new! Whether you are planning a stay-at-home celebration (we can help you out with movie ideas) or you are doing something with your social bubble, the wizards of keeping children entertained, PLAYMOBIL and the Dough Parlour, have some great ideas for you! What’s even better is that these toys will keep your child interested for months to come. 🙂
Creepy Crafts
The Dough Parlour wants your kiddos to get crafty with Halloween-themed modelling dough by making some creepy creatures or maybe some gruesome ghosts! Their Halloween Gift Set features four Halloween-coloured dough tubs, including Black Licorice and Pumpkin Spice, as well as 3 cutters in the shape of a Bat, Pumpkin and a Ghost! This delightful set is packaged in a black hat box and comes wrapped in a bright orange ribbon, all set for the Halloween hoopla to begin!
Parents will be pleased to know that Dough Parlour’s premium modeling dough is made with 100% non-toxic, food-grade ingredients, however it is NOT edible. Handcrafted right here in Canada, you can purchase the Halloween Gift Set at Indigo, along with their other lovely pieces. Dough Parlour even offers up a Seasonal Sensory Box you can subscribe to!Â
Scary Stories
Halloween is all about ghosts, goblins and ghouls (and candy, we mustn’t forget the candy 🙂 ) and what child doesn’t love the idea of being spooked by a scary story or two. This year since we have to get our scares on in a less mobile way (no house-to-house trick-or-treating,) why not encourage your kiddos to use their imaginations to create their own terrifying tales at home. PLAYMOBIL’s Take Along Haunted House or the Take Along Pirate Skull Island are the perfect way to set the scene for some Halloween mayhem.
PLAYMOBIL playsets are a fun way for your child to test out any idea they come up with, whether it is scary or not. With plenty of accessories on hand in the Take Along sets, your kiddo will be able to come up with plenty of story ideas and then some. 🙂 The best part is the fun can go wherever you go! The sets fold together, with all of the figures and add-ons kept safely inside. The handy handle lets your little pumpkin carry their playset AND their candy bag too.
Spooky Scavenger Hunt
This form of Halloween hoopla is great for children of all ages. You could even set up teams and pair a smaller child with an older one. You just need to hide some small items around your house or even the backyard if you hunt in the afternoon. Everyone loves a scavenger hunt and it could even be a great social distancing event if your neighbours want to participate.
To help get you started, the Dough Parlour’s Assorted Cutters and PLAYMOBIL’s variety of single figures, like the Ghost Pirate Captain, are the perfect treats to hide. And I guarantee your kiddos will be thrilled to find them. 🙂 Stuck for some more ideas of things to hide? Check out this post for Non-Food Halloween Treats. Most items can be found at your local party store or dollar store.
