Wow, it is so hard to believe that one year ago today I started out on this little adventure known as my blog, my MapleMouseMama. To say I am proud of myself is beyond how I truly feel. See? I am having a major vaklemp already.:-) This is an accomplishment that ranks up there with having my children. Okay, maybe not as high, but still. I set this goal for myself and I stuck with it. I truly hope that this is one example my children will see as something great their mama has done.
Creating MapleMouseMama actually started several weeks before it’s on line birth. I wanted to come up with a really cool name and tried out several variations on family and friends first. I thought up MapleMouseMama very early on and it was the one I kept coming back to. It just felt right. I wanted to honor my love for Mickey and all things Disney, but leave room to honor who I was as well; a mother and a Canadian. Now while it’s true the content of said blog has probably more Disney related material than anything else, it is and always will be, an ever evolving body of work. Room for improvement so to speak.
To date I have written over 70 posts. Or blogged over 70 times. Not bad for a rookie I think. I can honestly say that each post has been fun to write and I am proud of each and every one. I do tend to spend too much time on the research end of things though, but each trip down that lane brings new memories to life. I tried a challenge in April to write one post per day. Now I did get off to a good start, but life got in the way. No worries though. The next challenge was doing Destination Disney Meme posts each week on a pre picked theme. I think I did very well with those, but kind of lagged at the end of the last one. I am not sure if I will continue with these yet, but it is nice to have a group of people to post with, on a common ground. I even joined in a few giveaways to grow my readership!
This blog thing has brought me many rewards this past year and one of those I am most proud of is a new dimension to my relationship with my daughter, my beautiful Emily. She has followed along with most of my writings, shared her unbiased opinions with me and expressed her desire to write for MapleMouseMama. I could not be more proud! Here comes the vaklemp again.
We have talked about her doing a post on her favorite things about Disney, which is a passion we share. I am excited to see what she comes up with!!
I can’t talk about my blog without mentioning the real push that drove me to start it. That push would be the Disney Moms Panel and some of it’s wonderful panelists. The panel has been around now for five years and while I have not been chosen for it, yet, I have managed to somehow meet many of it’s members, both in the real world and on line. Several of them have blogs and this is what helped to inspire me to start MapleMouseMama. I have to give a shout out to Kaylene of Memory Maker Mom, Teronya of Tron World and Suzannah of Zannaland. These ladies are wonderful mothers, panelists and bloggers and I thank them for their inspiration and their words of encouragement.
I will end now with a big huge ****HAPPY**** FIRST **** BIRTHDAY **** MapleMouseMama! I am so very proud of what you have become. Thank you to everyone who has ever taken the time to read a post and/or leave a comment. I appreciate you and your support. Here is to another year of intelligent and witty writing.
