I have spent a great deal of time tonight on my blog. I mean like hours. Ask my husband and he will agree; lots of time… 🙂 So, where are the posts, you may be asking yourself. Well, the time spent tonight was not on the content per say, but rather on the appearance of my lovely blog. I have played around with how my blog looks a few times, but have always stuck with the free themes that WordPress offers us. I have messed around with uploading a photo here and there, but without much success. My goal was to ultimately create a background that I have envisioned in my head almost since this blogs inception. But, in order to do this one needs to know what the heck they are doing, LOL. 🙂 Which I clearly don’t. However, tonight I did not let that stop me. I tried on many a custom theme tonight, let me tell ya. I dabbled in the plethora of colour pallets that each theme offers. I changed fonts and backgrounds. I even uploaded a few custom headers, just for the fun of it. And one stuck! Well, at least for now it has. So, that is why my blog looks different today. That sweet collage up there ^ of beautiful, red maple leaves lying on a bed of ice ( sounds like an entree) is my homage to my roots because I AM CANADIAN gosh darn it!! And I do like it, but I am not one hundred percent in love with it. Part of my vision has included some mashing together of little maple leaves and little hidden mickey’s (or mickey icons to some folks), but I lack the skill to see that come to fruition. But, I am working on it!
Now, tonight as I was messing around I came across a custom WordPress theme ( that means I would have to pay for it) and it grew on me. The colour scheme was different than I thought I wanted and the pattern was probably the furthest thing from Disney that you can get ( we are not talking skulls and crossbones, but still no flying elephants either). I let it sit for awhile while I continued my quest for the holy grail, but I kept going back to it. The funny thing about this new theme was that it does have a direct correlation to a phrase I use with my children all of the time. That phrase is “I love you to the moon and the stars and back again” and I have always said it to both kids. So, I got to thinking about what I wanted my blog’s “look” to say about it and to say about me. Does it have to say that I am a Canadian Disney mom or can it say something else? I am not sure..
So, I am gonna keep messing around with a few ideas I have and time will tell what I come up with. I actually took pen to paper tonight ( felt so weird!) and I created some logos for MapleMouseMama. The drawings are pretty lousy, but if I come up with something great maybe some starving artist will create a nice version for me in exchange for some hot meals. 🙂 Ya, no one is that desperate, LOL. So stick around folks and stay tuned to see what this outlet of creativity will look like next. I can not promise a background worthy of Picasso or a header fit for da Vinci, but I can promise something interesting…

Disney, eh? says
Great job!!! You’re starting to inspire me to play around with my Disney blog again. It’s been a very long time! :-/

Thank you Cass, I appreciate that. 🙂 You know my blog has gone from being mostly about Disney to a good mix of things and I am good with that. You do a lot of writing, just in other forums, right? Disney’ eh? will always be there when you need her 🙂

Hey, Suz! Thanks for stopping by Elrods Go Disney today. I do the same exact thing! I want my blog to look “legit” (I guess you might say), but I’m never willing to pay for the upgrade, or to pay someone to do it! Haha. So I say, no. Appearance isn’t everything. I’ve seen lots of pretty layouts with absolutely nothing of interest to say. Can’t judge a book by it’s cover, right? Well, I say you can’t judge a blog by it’s appearance. 🙂

Hi Malorie and a big thank you to you for the visit 🙂 I do agree with your description of some blogs, LOL. I guess I think of the logo as being an extension of this, my little home away from home and I want it to be identifiable as she grows. I have a few irons in the fire and I sure hope they pan out to be something good! Thanks again for stopping by. I appreciate it.

I don’t know what your site looked like back in 2013 but you’ve done a pretty good job is 2017. The cartoon of you is really cute !
