It was an honor just to be nominated….

 

 

 

A phrase that is often associated with major award shows, like the Junos 🙂 or The Academy Awards is, “it was an honor just to be nominated“.  It is one sometimes used to be facetious when a person does not win said award.  It is also used when someone loses out on winning an award they really wanted, but they want to pretend it doesn’t really matter.  In my case it truly is an honor and a pleasure to have been nominated for not one, not two, but three  2012 Canadian Weblog Awards!  I was shocked to get the email from the powers that be at CWA (Canadian Weblog Awards) this past December and extremely flattered.  I had no notions of winning, but to seriously have these nominations made for my work, well, I was overjoyed that someone cared enough to put my name, my blog’s name, up for consideration.  When I first started MapleMouseMama I had wished only to have a creative outlet and a place to share my passions; my family and Disney. :-), but as time went on and I attracted more readers, well, it made me feel pretty darn good. 🙂  Who doesn’t love to be commended for their work, especially something as personal as writing?

The three categories that MapleMouseMama was nominated in were; Best New Weblog, Best Written and Best Travel, almost the holy trinity of categories ( at least in my book 🙂 )  I liken the first one, Best New Weblog, to a nomination for Best New Artist or Best New Group or Duo. 🙂  I can envision how many a performer has felt when they hear their name announced along with other successful artists of that ilk.  In the past some of those names have included “Peter, Paul & Mary”, “Sonny & Cher”, “The Blues Brothers”, “Glass Tiger” (a personal favorite) and more recently “Justin Bieber” and “Taylor Swift”.  Pretty good company if you ask me. 🙂  The category Best Written is, I believe, a nod to my talent as a writer, dare I say and that is an astounding feeling!  The icing on the cake, Best Travel, makes me feel pretty darn good about my Disney knowledge and reach.  I am far from knowing everything about Disney World, but I am proud to be the go to person for advise on all things mouse, amongst my family and friends. 🙂

The CWA are open for nominations from February to November of the given year and then a voluntary jury narrows the list to the top five contenders.  At that point the first, second and third place honors are awarded.  As my title implies, I was nominated, but alas I did not win.  And that is perfectly okay with me.  I will proudly display the 2012 Canadian Weblog Awards Nominee button on my blog for as long as I can and if I am lucky, I will be able to add to it this year.  If not, I can truly say, it was an honor just to be nominated… 🙂
