I had to post this as soon as it happened so that some of the charm wasn’t lost. William and I have been up together this morning for several hours, just the two of us. We have cuddled on the couch watching cartoons, sharing a big bowl of blue berries and just enjoying each others company. No place to go today as it is a holiday (happy birthday Queen Vicky) so there is no rush to get dressed. William looks so forward to the weekends, or holidays as he calls it. I guess it is because throughout the week, while he gets to spend a part of the mornings with his daddy, he still goes to daycare. Evenings it is just William, Emily and I so our weekends, our holidays are the best part of the week: family time together.♥♥
So this morning was a gift. A gift of time, a gift of love. A gift of peace and quiet and a gift of little fingers. Those little fingers that reach for me to put my arm around him always ( William is known for saying to me, “Can I have your arm please Mama?” or just, “Your arm” with a pointed look at me 🙂 ) Those little fingers that can deftly maneuver around my iPhone better than me. 😉 Those sticky little fingers, covered in crushed blue berries, trying to help me fix my hair or get my cup of tea from the table. And finally, those little fingers dancing, dancing as we sing William’s favorite ditty these days, “Little Fingers.” I kid you not. This sweet little song is about your fingers and William likes for him and I to sing it together, each taking a different part. It goes a little something like this;
“Daddy finger, Daddy finger, where are you? Here I am, here I am, how do you do? Mommy finger, Mommy finger, where are you? Here I am, here I am, how do you do? Brother finger, Brother finger, where are you? Here I am, here I am, how do you do? Sister finger, Sister finger, where are you? Here I am, here I am, how do you do? Baby finger, Baby finger, where are you? Here I am, here I am, how do you do?”This is all sung using your fingers as puppets and it is so charming! William loves to sing it over and over, changing his voice as he goes. So this morning I was treated to the birds chirping, the sun shining and my darling boy and his little fingers singing sweetly to me. ♥♥♥

Hey Suzanne you are very lucky to have your IPhone right at your finger tips to record all of the lovely memories, that you will enjoy reading years from now. I hope you have that phone all backed up and saved. Isn’t he, William, just a darling. Love you Mom

This is such a great post and the sweetest because It’s been 4 years exactly and I bet those cuddles don’t really happen anymore. The more they grow the less they think parents are needed for all the comfort things.
