Something you will never hear me say is that I love to clean. It is just not my thing. Any of it. I have friends who find cleaning to be a stress reliever and others who find it therapeutic, but not me. If anything just the thought of cleaning makes me apprehensive. Well, actually that would be cooking dinner, but I digress. Back to cleaning, or house work, whichever you prefer to call it. I choose to call it a pain in the rear. 🙂 Regardless, house work is on the menu now because it is Spring and what does one usually do in the Spring? (I’ll give you a hint, it’s not “run through fields of wild flowers with crazy abandon“). SPRING CLEANING! Yup, I am afraid it is that time.
Now, despite my aversion to cleaning I know it is a necessary evil. As much as I love all things Disney even I know that the dishes will not wash themselves and the last I heard the rabbits and squirrels don’t do windows, so I am stuck. Good thing I have an arsenal to help me out this Spring ( or should I say help my hubby out 😉 ). The makers of OxiClean have generously provided us with some amazing OxiClean miracle working stuff to help make Spring Cleaning a little easier this year AND they have included some awesome tips to help us all make the pain in the rear, well, a little less painful.
I think my favourite tip has to do with the carpets. If you have seen my floors you would understand why. Our carpet is old, 18 years old (gasp!) and after a long, hard winter it is in need of a pick me up. Side note: we do plan to replace it with hardwood someday, but Cinderella’s handy men have not returned my calls so it might have to wait a little longer.
TIP ∗ Carpet Cleaning – Fabrics that have absorbed a winter’s worth of dirt will need a deep clean to get them ready for another year of wear. Shampooing your carpets is a good start, but for tougher stains, use OxiClean™ Versatile Stain Remover – simply mix a little bit of the stain remover with warm water as per the instructions on the label and blot with a clean towel until the stain disappears. Always rinse thoroughly with clean water. You will love the results, trust me. ♥
TIP ∗ Make Doormats Welcoming – They’re the front line against tracking in dirt, so keep them clean enough to function efficiently and look good while doing it! If the winter filth is heavy, soak your mats in warm water mixed with a scoop of OxiClean™ Versatile Stain Remover for six hours, then wash as directed. Even your toughest stains get washed away! Remember to always follow manufacturers care instructions.
TIP ∗ Patio Season – While it may still be cold, you can start thinking of the warmer weather and spruce up your patio. Personally I can’t wait to put up the gazebo thing that covers our deck! Clear off any large objects like branches and sweep up the left over leaves. Next use the sprayer setting on your garden hose to wash away as much of the winter dirt and grime as possible. ***Tackle stains left on your outdoor furniture upholstery with OxiClean™ Versatile Stain Remover – it’s chlorine free and colour safe so you can use it on gutters and unfinished decks, too!
Don’t you just love how OxiClean™ Versatile Stain Remover is like the jack of all trades for cleaning products?!
TIP ∗ Make your Dishes Shine – Spring has sprung and what better way to celebrate then to entertain! Ensure your dish and glass wares are ready for your guests by using OxiClean™ Extreme Power Crystals™ Dishwasher Detergent Paks to tackle tough stains and stuck-on-foods. The best part? No more pre-washing or re-washing is necessary so you’ll have time to relax after the party. Cheers!
TIP ∗ Organizing Closets – Organizing your closet is the first step to organizing the rest of your home. I have to say that this is one task I do not mind doing. Hauling out bags of unused clothes, towels and bedding to donate and help de-clutter actually makes me feel good! ***Whether you are keeping clothes or donating them, ensure they are crisp and clean by laundering them with OxiClean™ Liquid Laundry Detergent. It attacks dirt and tough stains left by Old Man Winter, and will leave them smelling spring fresh, as if you had run through a field of wild flowers. 😉
So now it is your turn; please share some of your best Spring Cleaning tips. And just between you and me, tell me how you really feel about housework. It’s okay, you are among friends. No judging here, I promise. 🙂
