I have to admit that this whole business of blogging was a mystery for me before I started my own blog. Makes sense, right? Not that I am a total computer/world wide web illiterate or anything, but computers and I did not have the best of relationships. I took courses, listened to my hubby patiently explain how to upload our photos or download our emails, but I was just not that interested. No harm, no foul, right? Even at work I use a computer seventy-five percent of the time, but the programs are easy enough to learn and use and not much of a challenge. Now I have always loved writing, but more so in the traditional sense of putting pen to paper, not finger to key, ya know? Then life started to change and out of necessity I started to learn more about computers, about finding things, trying new things and not being afraid to mess up a bit. There was always the back button, right? 🙂 The whole blogging world was still an unknown to me until I started to “meet” some Disney lovers on line, either through Face Book or The Dis Boards. I was still pretty sheltered, but The Dis Boards especially helped me to expand my horizons a bit.
Fast forward to this past year when I became friends, on line, to some incredible people. Mostly we have in common our love of Disney, but as my world started to grow, so did my appreciation for the other things that encompass their, and my, lives. Like having children, loving to run, cooking, eating, theme parks, making memories, our faith, movies, reading, animals, sewing and crafting, writing, photography, music, Broadway, being Canadian and so on. These things in common helped me to see that I too could blog and write about whatever I wanted, with little fear of being judged or misunderstood. And so Maple Mouse Mama was born. And I love her, I mean it 🙂 It is such a liberating feeling to write out your thoughts and decide whether to share them or not. At first I thought I would always write about Disney related stuff, but that has not been the case each time. And that’s okay. I should say at this point that I also love that my grammar is not on trial here. Let’s face it everyone wants to start sentences with an AND, but in school that was a surefire way to get a paper full of red pen and no star sticker at the end.
Another great perk of this cute little blog o mine is the all the other incredible bloggers I am meeting!! It’s true! Just this past week I was added to a cool group of awesome bloggers and I was personally invited!! How neat is that? In a matter of days I have grown my own readership (well hopefully some will want to read) and I have gained access to some wonderful writers thoughts and opinions. It is truly an honor to be a part of this whole world of blogging. Now, if I can only find more time to do it I would be completely satisfied, alas life does get in the way sometimes 🙂 But for now I can honestly say that I am enjoying this little hobby and the cool opportunities it is bringing to me, especially the new friends. Now to bookmark some sites…
