I am a dreamer. In more ways then one, I might add. I have dreams of one day becoming a Disney Parks Moms Panelist. I have dreams of a bigger house, better income. I have dreams of my family being free from debt. Of course the “everyone being healthy” dream is a given. I have dreams of becoming a better writer and maximizing my blogs potential. I have dreams of taking my family to Disney World a lot more then we get to go now. I mean A LOT more. I have a dream of going on a Disney Cruise some day to. I used to have a dream about getting married at Disney World, but that window has passed, LOL. That’s okay, there is always the dream of a Disney vow renewal. Or better yet, Emily now has the dream to get married at Disney some day. Yes, she is learning from me in more ways than one, LOL.
So, lots of Disney dreams. Another one is to someday stay at the Grand Floridian. When asked what is my favorite Disney resort, one would normally answer one that they have at least stayed at right? Not me! I answer, the Grand Floridian! The elegance and old time charm of this place had me at hello. I have been in its luxurious halls several times, soaking up the ambiance of a Victorian era gone by. I thoroughly enjoy just lounging in the massive lobby, people watching, gazing at the beautiful bird cage elevator. I have been lucky enough on a couple of occasions to witness a bride having her photo taken on the amazing sweeping staircase that is situated behind the elevator. It is exciting just to watch! I have to admit that my daughter and I have taken turns posing for our own “Gone With the Wind” style pictures here, LOL. They turn out beautifully even if we are dressed in our finest park touring wear. It is extra special to hang out there when the grand piano’s ivory’s are being tickled.
I recall on one visit whilst waiting for our table to be ready at 1900 Park Fare we were treated to the band and the piano playing. My daughter was just five at the time and she her cousin were dressed in their best princess outfits. They both danced and twirled around the lobby, even ending their performance ever so gracefully, stretched out on the floor! It was a hoot, but they earned an ovation from the crowd. Made their day, I tell ya!
My daughter and I have even had tea at the Grand. The Garden View Lounge has a view of the lovely gardens and when you attend tea you really feel like a royal! The best part is you don’t even have to dress like one! On one visit my daughter and I were attending Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party afterward so comfy clothes were on our backs. At first I felt a bit weird as there was a party of ladies directly in my line of view who were all dolled up. I soon started to notice that many others were attired just as Emily and I were so I relaxed. Disney is at it’s finest for any guest when you are relaxed and happy.
There is so much more I could say about the Grand Floridian and will hopefully do so soon, in another post. I actually started this particular post much earlier today because I had a dream last night that I was staying in the corner suite on the 5th floor of the Grand!! That room is stunning ( at least from what I can tell of photos I have seen of it) and it has the most amazing views in all of the World. Probably the best one is the view of Magic Kingdom and Cinderella Castle. In my oh so real dream I was “put up” in this room as part of The Year of a Million Dreams and Mickey and Minnie were waiting for me upon arrival. Wishes was just starting and I watched from the windows, mouth agape with my two most favorite pals beside me (that would be Mickey and Minnie). I know that YoaMD was a long time ago, but it was a pretty great year or two.
Anyway, as with most of my dreams I wake feeling like it really happened and it was hard to shake that great feeling today. Plus, I truly believe that dreams tell a lot about what the future will hold, so maybe, just maybe, a stay at the Grand Floridian is within my reach after all…
