So, how many pairs of mittens has your little one lost so far this winter? If they are like my son William the answer is more then you can count on one hand. And it is only December. What was I going to do? I can only hit up my mom to knit a pair every once in awhile so I needed a smart answer fast and that is when I heard from Tracy, the founder of Smart Mitts. Tracy has reinvented wearing, and not losing, mittens for the younger crowd.
Remember when you were little and your mom would sew a string onto the end of your mitts so they would not be lost? The idea was to thread the string through your sleeve and up around your neck? Yes, not the safest way to wear mittens and that is why this idea has slowly been phased out. Then came those mitts with little clips on the cuff that could be clipped to the cuff of your child’s jacket. Great in theory, but just as easy to lose. Smart Mitts takes those ideas up a notch or two and makes it easy to keep all of your mittens where they belong; on your child and not in the school’s lost and found box.
Smart Mitts are designed to wrap around your child’s back, under their coat, so they stay in one place. The design of Smart Mitts also ensures the mitts you put on your kiddo stay on your kiddo. Once a child takes off a mitt it can be a challenge for cold, little fingers to put them back on, so very often they just don’t. With Smart Mitts you don’t need to worry about that. These wonderfully “warm and cozy” (William’s words) mitts are made with 100g Thinsulate which indeed does keep you warm, cozy and dry. Each Smart Mitt has a long “arm” so they reach up to your child’s elbows, keeping the cold and snow out. The unique back band is made of a soft and stretchy material that is made to move with your child, so they do not feel constricted at all. Smart Mitts come in a variety of colours and patterns so your child can still look cool while sporting their winter gear. At the end of the day Smart Mitts can be hung on a hook all ready for the next days’ adventure!
Make sure you check out Smart Mitts on Facebook and order some for under your Christmas tree. One pair of Smart Mitts will save you replacing fifteen pairs of conventional ones throughout the winter. Now my Mom can get back to knitting my daughter’s latest must have; the infinity scarf.
On average how many pair of mitts does your child/sibling/grandchild/niece/nephew/friend lose each winter?

Merry Christmas to you and yours.
We have lost 5 mitts already this year (one pair being mine haha). They’re such a common item to go so this could save us a few shopping trips (and some cash).
It’s true Randa. We always buy a bunch of those dollar ones and still lose them. Smart Mitts are the way to go.
Wow. That starts to add up quickly, doesn’t it Randa?
