I have spent countless hours over the past little while trying to come up with the logo for MapleMouseMama. Countless. I know it is not a requirement that if you have a blog you must have a logo, but this is something I have wanted almost since I started my blog ( coming up on two years ago now 🙂 ). I recall trying to create the perfect name, a name that would encompass my passion for Disney, with the love of my family and country. MapleMouseMama did not actually take me too long to come up with. I tried her out on a few friends and family and it was deemed a keeper. I was able to use a copy of a wonderful and favorite Disney pin I have for my Gravatar (WordPress lingo for a little picture of me, the blogger ) and even tried out a few other well recognized Disney/Canadian images. But I always knew that I wanted something of my own, something that I at least had a hand in designing.
Fast forward to this year, well we can still backtrack a bit. I am artistically challenged, at least in the drawing aspect of art. My children can attest that my stick figures always end up looking like sticks. ♀ see? I mean actual wood that was torn from a tree branch, not the cute little figures you see on the back of every mini van in town ( mine will soon be included in that group, LOL ). I do think I am somewhat creative though, but I just needed a true artist to put my idea on paper. Well, I searched high and low for someone talented who had time on their hands and required no monetary compensation for this little job. As you can well imagine that last caveat was the deal breaker for most people. No money? No logo… 🙁
I put my idea on the back burner for awhile and focused on other things, but that logo thing was always bugging me. Recently I have noticed more and more blogs have these great little things called buttons and anyone can “grab it” and put it on their own blog. It is a way of sharing with your readers other blogs that interest you, which might in turn interest them. This button sharing is also a wonderful way to stay connected to like minded bloggers and show them just how much you value and respect their work. I recently stole a great idea from James and Lisa over at Home is Where the Mouse is to start a page that honors your blogging peers and you can see their page here. My own version is viewable by clicking on the Bloggin Peeps ♥ tab right up there ↑.
So, what does this have to do with a logo for MapleMouseMama you ask? Well, after much ado about this (and many, many revisions ) I would like to present to you my new logo!!!! Big, isn’t she? 🙂
You may recall an article I did a short time ago on the appearance of one’s blog (go on, have a look again 🙂 ). That was really the push I needed to expand my vision to include not just the Disney and Canadian side of me, but also the family side, the side that fuels more and more of this blog every day ♥. Some may look at this and think, huh? Others will get it right off. Either way I am super happy with it and so proud of myself for actually accomplishing this goal. I have to thank my wonderful hubby Doug for his help in the final stages. I was starting to lose it for a bit, but he reeled me back in and saved the day ( well, the edit actually, but patatoe potatoe ). I have even figured out how to add my own button so that others will hopefully want to share it. 🙂 Having said that this post would mean nothing if I didn’t mention the great site I used to create my button. My Cool Realm has some great content that you need to check out! You can be sure I will be adding their button..
Next on my list? Fine tuning this puppy to maybe fit a business card or the like? I am excited to see how it all turns out. So now tell me, who out there has a logo they would like to share? I would be honored to add it to my Bloggin Peeps ♥ page. Or maybe you would like to share your own creative journey. I would love to hear all about it. ♥♥

Love the new logo!! Hopefully James worked out all the bugs with our button so we can be your peeps! He is my go to for all things technology. Without him, I’d be looking at the computer screen wondering what to do. You’re much better than I am. Great job!

Thank you Lisa, I appreciate that 🙂 I do have you guys on my page and it seems to be all set. This techy stuff is a pain, LOL. It was a huge trial and error situation, but I am happy with the outcome. James’ help has been very appreciated and thank you to you two for starting us off with your Neighborhood page 🙂

Thank you very much Jud 🙂 I have to work out the bugs on getting everyone else on my page. I am not as advanced as James at creating buttons. It took me forever to do mine, LOL. But I am determined to fill up my page!
