I can not remember the last time winter was so late in arriving. Here we are in early December and the temperatures are ranging as high as ten degrees! It’s crazy, but I love it! Heavy coats are a pain and the longer I can put off dragging mine out of the closet the happier I will be. But let’s be real. I know that this warm spell will not last forever. And it would be nice to have a white winter, which means it will have to snow. And I will have to be prepared for it whether I like it or not.
Lucky for me The Shoe Company wanted to help my family get ready for winter before the snow flies. According to the experts at The Shoe Company most Canadians wait to bring out or buy their snow boots. This very important purchase is often not made until 48 hours after that first snowfall. Kind of silly to wait until after it snows, don’t ya think? However I can relate to the procrastination of boot preparedness. It is a kind of game we play with ourselves. If we don’t prepare for the winter, it won’t come! Right? Wrong!
The good thing about The Shoe Company is that they have the largest selection of winter boots in Canada! They have hundreds of pairs to choose from, whether you need boots for playing in or just for looking good in. The Shoe Company has put their best foot forward to get Canadians ready for winter.
On my last visit to The Shoe Company we were there to buy boots for my daughter. Emily has a long walk from school and when the snow is on the ground that long walk seems endless. Sometimes the sidewalks are not plowed and the snow can be deep. This means Emily needs a boot that is warm and comfy and will keep her feet dry. And since she is a teenager, almost, they have to be stylish. That can be a hard combination to find when you buy your boots where you buy your groceries, but not at The Shoe Company. Keeping your feet happy is their main focus.
After much searching, trying on and then ditching Emily finally settled on this beautiful pair of Sorel winter boots. They met all of our criteria: waterproof, super warm, good tread for walking, a liner that won’t pull out when Emily takes them off and last, but not least, they are cool. Buying these Sorel boots is a big purchase, but since I am hoping Emily’s size 9 feet have stopped growing, purchasing a pair in size 10, is a good investment.
While Emily was modelling the high heels I will not ever allow her to buy, I wandered around the kids section because young William also needs to be booted up. 🙂 I was pleased to see that the selection was just as large as the adult section, with a good range of prices to match your budget. Although William does not have the long winter walk that his sister has, a child’s winter boots need to meet the same standards: warm, waterproof, good sole and something easy to take care of. The Shoe Company’s wide array of styles and brands will ensure we will hit the mark no matter what pair we choose.
So, now I guess we can let it snow, let it snow, let it snow… 🙂
When do you typically start preparing for winter; before or after the first snow?

Wow, up to 70% off- I’ll have to check them out! I did get the kids boots early but I have none for myself and there is some snow on the ground. I fell in a parking lot the other day because I wasn’t wearing real boots- it was a bit embarassing.

I like to prepare before the first snowfall so I’m not scrambling after the fact.

I try to have my kids boots out before the snow flies or have them bought because it’s not fun when snow comes and no boots.
