Two Cents Tuesday: Capitol Punishment in Canada

At the risk of opening my mouth and sharing an unpopular view, consider yourself forewarned.  Unsavory stuff ahead.  This loathsome perspective I speak of is this; I think the Canadian justice system needs to bring back Capitol Punishment. Like now.  As a Catholic who has long believed in the concept of innocent before proven guilty and the sixth Commandment “Thou shall not kill“,  the events of today just sicken me.  The disappearance and subsequent death of Tim Bosma, a somewhat local young father and husband, has rocked me and everyone else, to their very core.  Is no one safe anymore?  Just over a week ago this upstanding citizen, father to a two year old little princess and loving husband to his wife of three years, was taken.  Tim took two men for a test drive in his truck that he had advertised on line as being for sale.  He never came home.  Today his remains were discovered, murdered and burned beyond recognition.  His little princess will never see her daddy again.  The suspect in jail is now going to be charged with First Degree Murder, but there are at least two suspects at large. 

This young family has been shattered and their pain is felt by their country, not just their community.  The question of why remains and who knows when, if ever, it will be answered.  Small comfort to the Bosma family when it does arrive.  As for the men responsible for this violence?  The best we can hope for is that they rot in jail before rotting in hell because the justice system in Canada is too lenient.  Just take a look at the joke of a trial for Paul Bernardo.  For his heinous crimes he gets the luxury of his own cell, television, regular exercise etc  and he will be eligible to apply for parole in 2020!!!  Mother of pearl that man hurt so many and tortured and murdered at least three young girls and he could possibly be released into society?  It is bad enough his cohort Karla Holmolka is free because of her “Deal with the Devil“, but Paul might get out to?  It’s just too much.  Jesus Christ was put to death for loving mankind and his Father in Heaven, but cold blooded killers in Canada can eventually go free?  It truly makes me ill.  How do you explain that one to your children?

Bring back Capitol Punishment Canada or God help us all….

My deepest condolences to the family of Tim Bosma and his community.  Let us pray his death was not in vain..
