William will soon be turning five (OMGee!!) and his knowledge and vocabulary are starting to reflect that. Actually I think much of the, ahh growth has come from being in school and having the influence of other children for six plus hours a day. At any rate William still comes out with some funny things on a pretty regular basis. What makes it even cuter is that everything must pass through the space in the front of his mouth due to three missing teeth. Everything is sweeter with a lisp added to it.
The other night William was lying beside me in bed, very restless, tossing and turning. We always say our prayers before he drifts off and sometimes he still likes me to sing to him. It is part of a soothing ritual, but it wasn’t doing the trick on this particular evening. Out of the blue my little dude said, “Mama, why are people a-scared of zombies?” My first reaction when either of my kids brings up monsters and their ilk is to say that they are not real, but that doesn’t always cut it. Especially with little boys. So William repeated his question as if I had not even answered. This time I replied, “Well I guess it is because they look kind of yucky and sound kind of yucky.” William seemed to be thinking this over at the same time I was thinking that great, he is not gonna sleep tonight, when he popped up and said, “Isn’t it because they eat your brains? I think so.” Then he promptly rolled over and went to sleep! Guess I gave those zombies way too much credit, LOL. 🙂

My little Emanuelle will be turning 5 soon too! I’m amazed with the questions she has started asking me. She has asked me about zombies too, and like you I just said they aren’t real. She has never gone any further. Your son is way more curious, LOVE IT! Always seems they ask those kinds of questions before bed… I’m always worried they won’t sleep after either. hehe
MapleMouseMama says
The imagination at this age is so interesting. I hope he doesn’t lose this curiosity..
