Planning comfortable, enjoyable vacation time for a multi-generational family can be quite a task. One needs to be very attentive when choosing a worldwide destination.
What are the selection criteria of family-friendly vacation time?
- Make sure the flight is not too long. Eight hours in a plane is going to be tiresome; not only for the little ones, but also for older people. Once your flight is over, it can take time to adjust.
- Consider the climate conditions. Comfortable and cool works for me, but not everyone.
- Habitual pressure, humidity and the average temperature play a role in determining whether your day is spent inside or out.
- Get a spacious hotel with different kinds of entertainment available. For children, for example, water slides are a great idea while adults might enjoy golf or tennis.
- Having the opportunity to see something new and interesting. A walk through the city, visiting a museum or riding a funicular will bring pleasure to everyone. For people who are more active, it is going to be an advantage to be able to ride a bicycle through the town or rent a boat.
- The last criterion is Mother Nature! Lakes, pine forests, mountains – all of these will can make any vacation memorable.
1) Greece
Islands like Crete, Rhodes, Corfu or Chalkidiki Peninsula are the best for family vacations. Booking excursions on the green islands of Greece, where you can sunbath, relax and enjoy outdoor activities like hiking, water sports, biking or horseback riding. Pack a wonderful picnic lunch from a local bakery to make the day even more special.
2) Croatia or Montenegro
Two countries, two neighbors offering similar opportunities for spending your down time. The natural surroundings are a dream for nature-lovers and the travel costs are reasonable. In choosing either Croatia or Montenegro, it is recommended that you pay special attention to a water entry hotel. While this is a very cool feature of any accommodations, oftentimes, it is not very convenient for older people and children. Call to ask about safety measures, help transferring to a water taxi etc.
3) Bulgaria
This country is an excellent family-friendly destination for those who have a more conservative budget. Among popular resorts are Golden Line and Sunny Beach. The advantage of vacationing in Bulgaria are the sandy shores and well-developed infrastructure in a resort zone. Dining options are kid-friendly and will make everyone happy.
4) France
France is so diverse that it is almost impossible to plan a trip taking into consideration everyone`s needs, but it can be done. Children will most likely want to visit Disneyland. A visit to the Loire Valley will take you through beautiful vineyards and fruit baring orchards. Gorgeous castles and chateaus offer walking tours and great photo opportunities that will appeal to the history buff in your family and make great teaching moments. Or head to the French Riviera for beautiful beach resorts and celebrity sightings!
5) Spain
Spain has become one of the go-to travel destinations for vacationing families. With gorgeous scenery and fabulous resorts, for example, the Costa Brava or Costa del Sol, the options are endless with several price points. Families will love that you can get from Costa Brava to Barcelona or to a huge amusement park (the Aventura Port) with relative ease.
From wonderful dining options and tons of great shopping, good beaches and a lovely climate, Spain is the perfect place for family-friendly vacationing.
6) Tunisia
Late spring and early autumn are the best time for enjoying a family vacation to Tunisia as this is when it is not that hot there. The great sandy shores alone make an excursion to El Djem or Matmata a wonderful day trip. Make sure to bring your camera as the local architecture is incredible and will have you hunting for interesting structures during afternoon strolls.
7) Finland
Finland is one of the most beautiful countries in North Europe, which makes it perfect for the more adventurous families who love to explore their surroundings. With numerous hotels and resorts to choose from and an abundance of beautiful national parks, you will never be left wondering what to do. It is better to visit the country with older children however; they will be able to visit a sauna, go fishing and do other activities that require more stamina than a younger child might have.
Which of these world class travel destinations would be ideal for your and your family?
