This past Wednesday, I got the opportunity to attend the early screening of ‘Muppets MostWanted’ and as the title suggests, I smiled… a lot. It was two hours of fun and catchy tunes that had me roaring with laughter. Oh and I can’t forget to mention the number of celebrity cameos… I won’t share who makes appearances, because I don’t want to ruin the surprise, but know that you will be shocked by a few!
The movie starts off with a nod to the 2011 film (if you haven’t seen it yet, there’s no time like the present) and a great song that explains the reasoning as to why they’re doing a sequel. You can watch the clip here:
Now that the Muppets gang is back together, they’re going on a global tour, selling out grand theatres with the help of Dominic Badguy. Unbeknownst to them, Dominic is in cahoots with the most evil frog in all the land, Constantine, who looks exactly like the loveable Kermit the Frog. The Russian people accuse the wrong frog of wrong doing and Kermit ends up in jail, while Constantine takes the place of Kermit on the road. Of course, chaos ensues when Kermit isn’t around to keep the loveable Muppets in check; picture running bulls on stage and a lot of Celine Dion songs… oh, Miss Piggy.
Even after all these years, the Muppets appeal is still going strong and with good reason. They’re charming, funny and we always know what we’re in for when we watch Kermit pop out of the ‘O’ in ‘The Muppet Show’ sign. It was exciting to be a part of an early screening just to see a new generation of children fall in love with the ‘ol gang. There were barrels of children’s laughs when Gonzo appeared on the screen and lots of deep chuckles when adults listened to the two cranky men heckled the rest of the cast from their balcony seats. No matter what your age, you really will smile for two hours straight when you purchase a ticket to Muppets Most Wanted!
