Raise your hand if you could use some me-time? I know I sure can and the best way I know how to get it is with a good book and a cup of my favourite tea. I would prefer to enjoy this with a slight breeze at my back and the sun shining down on the deck at our family cottage, but since this dream is not always doable, I would happily shift the location to my living room or backyard. When getting in some quality me-time, beggars can not be choosers, after all.
When I was old enough to spend my own money on whatever I wanted, it almost always went to new books. I read many series and just loved to see them lining the shelves in my bedroom and later on, in our family room. My daughter has carried on that love and now has her own huge collection of books. But as a responsible adult, I can’t always justify spending a lot for one new book, so I usually don’t get one at all. There goes the opportunity for my ideal me-time scenario. Sigh… But, it doesn’t have to be that way, my friends. Not anymore.
I am sure you have heard how some lovely companies have created a way for adults to have that me-time they crave (and deserve) and they come in the form of monthly subscription boxes. One such company is called Sweet Reads. We profiled them as a great gift giving idea last year and still think they are worth talking about. Sweet Reads takes what we all need something of everyday – the opportunity to relax – and packages it with a wonderful new book and some awesome treats. You couldn’t ask for anything better, but it doesn’t stop there. Your Sweet Reads box is delivered to your door every month so you don’t even have to leave the house.
The steps are easy to follow. Just choose your subscription commitment of one, three or six months. Your Sweet Reads box will ship out to you on the 5th of each month and when it arrives you will receive a bestselling fiction novel, a beautifully crafted item curated to match your sweet read, an artisanal drink to help you relax while reading and a delicious gourmet goodie to enjoy during your me-time. Think of it as giving yourself a little gift every month and pretty soon you will be sending Sweet Reads subscriptions to all of your loved ones.
The cost of a one month subscription is $54.99 plus shipping, but while Sweet Reads is not an inexpensive choice, it is a special treat just for you. Give the one month option a try before you commit to anything longer and see what we mean. When we first posted about Sweet Reads, the one box we received for posting purposes contained the following: the novel “The Nightingale” by Kristin Hannah, a small tin of candy, a pouch of loose tea, a pen, bar of soap and cosmetic bag. Mama lost her me-time to my teen as she is the one who has enjoyed the goodies. The drawback is that if said teen wants another box she will have to purchase it herself.
Do you enjoy monthly subscription boxes? Will you be shelling out for a Sweet Reads purchase?

Just when I am starting to think about my Christmas budget / list. This popped into my inbox. Great idea for those hard to buy for
Great to hear! Gotta get that shopping done early.
I got my first Sweet Reads box this month. It was fantastic! I read the book last night. It was so great I couldn’t put it down (I stayed up way too late, but I read the whole book in one shot!). I can’t wait to see what’s in next month’s box!
I don’t enjoy monthly subscription boxes but have been thinking about this one for sometime now !
