Today I learnedAbout a little black dogIt’s living with meHiding in the fogIt’s fur is mattedDirty ears tornHidden from viewSince the day it was bornThis wolf-like creatureSo desperate to get outEscaping from it’s jailBegging for helpIt walks a tightropeSwaying to and froHolding on for dear lifeNot willing to let goThe net is thereJust waiting to catchBeing offered to usOh please acceptIt’s hard to takeThe hand that is offeredBelieve there’s a chanceReally trust that I matterNow the tightrope has becomeA lifeline for meSearching for guidanceFor an eternity A gentle mist comesFalling through the yearsWill it wash awayAll the unshed tears? But the little black dogShrinks back from the rainEnveloped in darknessEmbraced once againHope is still thereJust waiting for releaseDon’t ever give upSomeday there will be peaceFT&PDSuz
What a beautiful poem, I just don’t understand why there’s a stigma attached to depression. Everyone knows someone who suffers from some kind of mental problem.
I can totally relate to this. I suffered from severe post partum depression after the birth of three of my five children, and no one wanted children more than I did. It is not a shameful thing any more than a broken leg.Thank you for sharing. We should be kind to everyone, not only because our dear Lord tells us to, but because we do not know the burdens someone else is carrying.
beautiful!! thank you for sharing
