A couple of weeks ago I shared with you some extremely personal information about how I was going to try something new and break old habits. Using the new Philips Sonicare FlexCare Platinum toothbrush I was gonna be Upping My Brush Game! Guess what? I did it and OMGee I love this thing!! Who knew one could actually look forward to brushing your teeth every day. 🙂
My teeth, and their care, have been a sore subject for me for the past 14 years or so. As I mentioned in my first post about the fabulous Philips Sonicare FlexCare Platinum, a health issue left me with unhealthy teeth. 🙁 I have fought to regain those healthy teeth, but the road has never been smooth. I think I now know why. Well, mostly… For the past two weeks I have been using the Philips Sonicare FlexCare Platinum twice a day, which is the recommended amount they suggest you brush with this baby. For the past two weeks I have felt like I had a professional cleaning, in the comfort of my own home. I kid you not..
When I first set up the Philips Sonicare FlexCare Platinum, or my new BFF as I have come to call her ( don’t judge me ), I had to wait 24 hours for it to become fully charged. I went through the manual, which has A LOT of information in it ( yes it is a bit dry, but it will save you in the long run) and the thing that impressed me the most was the really cool UV Sanitizer! This handy little feature lets you store your brush heads (two can fit in there) and it kills up to 99% of the bacteria we all know is hanging out on your brush head. Once you press the green button on top a blue light glows for about ten minutes letting you know the Sanitizer is working. Told you it was cool. 🙂
Back to Upping My Brush Game.. The very first time I pressed the start button, with the toothbrush in my mouth, I immediately started to move the brush head against my teeth, just as if I was using my old throw away brush. It does take a few seconds to get used to the sensation, the pressure, (the feeling that a jet is landing in your mouth) before you figure out your own way of using your brush. The manual suggests using a light pressure on your teeth while letting the brush head do the work for you. The best part is it really does take the work out of brushing. Many people, myself included, brush too hard thinking this will give us a better clean, but it can actually cause problems down the road.
The Philips Sonicare FlexCare Platinum has several great features and I tested out each and every one:
- The New InterCare Brush Head offers advanced interdental cleaning and gum care, with several different bristles designed to each do a different job.
- The Customized Brushing System offers up to nine brushing experiences with three cleaning modes (clean, white, gum care) and three intensity settings of low, medium and high.
- The Quadpacer and Smartimer are available on each mode and help insure you are brushing for the recommended time frame of two minutes. Little changes in vibration alert you to move on to the next section, or quadrant, of your mouth. This sure beats singing the alphabet over and over in your head..
You know that just cleaned feeling you have in your mouth when you leave the dentist? You know that smooth feeling when your run your tongue over your teeth and it just glides over your pearlies? That is exactly the same feeling you will have when you go Upping Your Brushing Game with a Philips Sonicare FlexCare Platinum. Imagine how much gunk ( ie: plaque) can be removed with over 31,000 brush strokes per minute? Give it a try, your smile will thank you. 🙂
I have received many throw away toothbrushes in my stocking at Christmas, but that is all going to change with #PhilipsSonicare. Will you be asking Santa for a new rechargeable toothbrush this year?

I really should ask Santa for one of these toothbrush systems for my kids! They really go crazy for battery-operated toothbrushes and as a result brush their teeth longer.
MapleMouseMama says
LOL Jenna, I can see that happening with mine too!

My dentist is pretty adamant about using electric tooth brushes. She says they work better. Wish I had one of these for myself. The kids have one.
MapleMouseMama says
It is worth the investment Margarita and that is great your kids are already using them!
